It is perfectly possible to regret something you have done.

What do you want us to do......LIE ???? That'd be good eh..tell everyone how shit Australia is, yeah thats about right.

I could say the same things about your posts...always looking at the negative instead of the positive...

My responses have been truthful from our point of view, and i have stated that its entirely possible that it won't work for some people...

But in our case it has worked and i have freely stated that, whilst erring on the side of caution in that some people find it difficult.

Give people credit mate, let them make their own decisions and live with the consequences...believe it or not there are people who will admit it was a mistake and not try and blame someone or something else.

What the **** are you on about?

Did I say Australia was shit? Which bit of my post was negative about Australia? I even said in the post you quoted that these positive posts were generally a good thing FFS. All I said was that while everybody was piling in and saying how great the move had been for them that it didn't work for everybody.
Do you actually read the posts or just see what you want to see?

Seems to me that the guy came on here to seek advise and help to make a decision! Not instantly make his own decision...I think you need to pull your neck in a bit!!

Seems the sayings right! you can take the guy out of britain, but you can't take the british out of the guy!!

He's come on here to ask about the positive 'and' negative things about Australia.. not hear a bunch of gloaters who have made it work! Lot's don't and he needs to hear that..simple!

No one is trashing Australia here..they are talking about moving away from what you know and making a new start..It just happens to be Australia.

There's me telling the guy how laid back Aussies are and you lot ripping crap out each other!!!..Oh, sorry you're not Aussies are you

Plenty do NOT make a success of it and return to the UK, and before people start saying that's all down to the attitude of the people involved, that's just bollocks. Very few of those who sold up everything and made the move to Australia planned to be returning home again. For some, and its a sizeable percentage, it just never works out.

For the other side of the coin to all these success stories you are being told, check out the Moving Back to the UK part of British Expats. It can be an eye opener.
Well said.

Just got home from work in sunny UK ( yes its raining ) and it looks like I have whipped up an argument.

I appreciate all your posts guys, The advice is to help me whether to go or not so I have to take the negatives with the positives, but I do believe personally for me there are more positives.

Obviously I could go and hate it, but I would regret not trying in the first place, I actually dont know anybody that has gone to australia and come home yet im yet to meet one, I know personally 4 families who have gone who all love it.

One thing I would like to know, how long does it take roughly to get a visa? and when visa is recieved have you got to use it withing a certain time frame, like you have a year to go over or something?

Hi Again

Sounds like you are pretty much set to go to me...I'm off in May (mid) and a whole bunch of friends have gone over the last two years...

I've got a feeling you're going to love it...I like Australia loads, Just so much to do, the right weather to do it in, In the UK we stay indoors mainly..Australia never in unless we have to be!!

Last time I was there (GoldCoast) I met a guy from the UK who'd been there 20yrs..who told me he's never left Australia since..He was still trying to work his way around the country!!! Plus he didn't want to go anywhere else...

You get used to the heat..it's better than freezing your nads off..There's nothing worse than being uncomfortable and having to put on some boardies sit in the shade with a cold beer..so you'll have to get used to that.

I don't have personally any downers about Australia, and would have been there years ago if it wasn't for work contracts!!

Goo luck anyway

Pissing down in Bristol too...well Somerset

I do kind of have my heart set on going now, it wont be for a while mid 2012 at the earliest I would say, just wondering how long visa will take and how long have you got to use it?
