Loosing weight slowly is supposed to be the best for keeping it off long term so keep at it. If your able to spend time with Andrew thats great-anything that gets the adrenalin going will stimulate your metabolism-so keep things passionate
I'm lucky too, got Paul who supports me in everything I do (or don't do that I should) and generally keeps me from losing it when I'm streed out. Have been married before to someone less supportive and felt so unconfident and stuck in a rut, low self esteem/unconfident that I never thought I would find anyone that understood me. I didn't deserve it anyway!! -Your work collegue sounds very unhappy and I'm sure if your looking so healthy she will have noticed too. Some people are that busy striving for the weight loss that they neglect to realise that being slim is'nt the solution to all your problems. Slim or not what pee's you off when your big will pee you off when your slim. I know that for a fact. However being overweight often makes you feel tired not by just dragging the weight around but big people don't always get good quality sleep (particularly those with large chests) as breathing patterns are altered by any pressure surrounding the diaphragm and the body tosses and turns in sleep to gain a position to make breathing easier. Weight that shifts up towards the throat area can cause breathing problems/snoring etc. I have experienced when laying on my side foetal position that my buzzies squash together and cause constriction to my throat and have woken up in a panic because I can't breath properly-and I am not enormous. Any way the point was before I went on a ramble was that if your tired you don't cope with any stress very well so if you have lost weight the stresses may be the same but you can cope better and it appears problems are resolved. It sounds like your collegue may have some subconcious belief that if she were slim she may feel more confident to deal better with her relationship problems and maybe get out of something that she is no longer happy in. You are doing so well-don't compare to other people do it for you and your life. There will always be people who are stuffing there faces and staying or getting slim. Oh by the way have you checked out the competition in a gym (I know you wouldn't be interested in them) maybe shes got her eye on someone? well done with your efforts

Hiya Scanny,
You are so right about girl at work, always looking at other blokes. We have a new sports development officer who happens to be a bloke and it has to be said he is yummy. Without blowing my own trumpet, I'm far more attractive than she will ever be, I joked the one day that I was going to get this bloke on his own and see what happens (all female staffrooms are a bit rude sometimes) she shouted out 'yeah right in your dreams'. How I didn't smack her one I don't know. She foams at the mouth whenever any new bloke arrives at school, like you say she may be looking for someone else. Hope you got your chores done, coz I didn't lol. I was being a rebel today and said stuff it.

Cheeky sod!!! I went to doctors for my pill on Thursday, new doctor as mine has left. When I got on the scales he told me I was very over weight. When I told him to check back and see what weight I was in January, he said fair enough you've lost some but still have a long way to go. I can't believe the cheek of the man.

Finished Atkins beginning of Sept and started on You Are What You Eat. It's been a long old slog but am finally making headway. Stepped on scales today at 10s 12lbs. Have lost a total of 33lbs. With about 2 weeks to go until meds I may just make it down to 10s 8lbs which put me at a healthy weight for my height. If I can lose weight anyone can. Good luck to all who are still trying. Love and hugs.

Thanks willmore, I am proud of myself. Certainly not easy when you live with a bloke who can pile his plate high, have seconds then have a snack later and still not gain a lb. He makes me sick, lol.

Well girls and boys jsut to let you know...... I've packed in the cigs now too.
I had my last ciggie 19th Jan 05 and I feel great. I used Allen Carrs book, I won't go as far as to say it was easy but a whole lot easier than using patches or gum.
I still haven't been able to shift my 7lb Christmas gain but I'm not letting it get me down as I am now a non smoker,
Keep at it.
Love and hugs

Hiya Sue,
Don't beat yourself up over it. At the end of the day life is for living. The only way I keep going is by allowing myself a weekly treat, usually in the form of a very carefully chosen chinese or indian. Do something like that and it will help tons with the motivation. Good luck.

congrats on giving up the ciggies. It took 18 months for me to get over my cravings for nicotine and I gained a lot of weight in the process - so now just working on that ready for meds.
Had 4 stone to lose but plenty of time (still at the TRA assessment stage - what fun ! :scared: ) and have managed to lose 1 stone since the start of Jan with Rosemary Conley. Celebrated with a meal out to TGI's last night which was a complete disaster - so ended up leaving early which saved loads of money and calories - yippee !! Only three more to go

Hi all and well done to all you slimmers ! I am doing Slimming World diet at the moment, haven't been to any classes but borrowed the book from my friend at work. I have a little boy of 18 mths and never really lost all my weight after having him. I was 11 stone 3 when I fell pregnant which was overweight anyway (I would like to be about 9 1/2 - 10 stone. When we went to Perth last Christmas (03) I weighed 12 stone 2 and agreed with my sister in law that we would both be different next time we met. I did all sorts of low calories diets when we got back to the UK and lost some weight but was so starving I would have eaten dog food ! I tryed the Atkins and found that I lost 7lbs the first week, then nothing for 3 weeks. I also got sick of the food.
The slimming world diet is brilliant because you can eat loads ! I started dieting on 2nd Jan and have now lost 12lbs. A few girls at work did it and one has lost 3 stone, another 2 stone.
I'm hoping to be 10 stone when we leave for Oz at the end of April (am now 11st 4lb).
Good luck to all of you.
Jo
