Thanks everyone for your tips and much appreciated advice. I think I'll take a tip from everyone, then I can probably fly there without a plane, will be so out of my head!!!!

I'm gonna check out hypnotherapy and see about testing some of the medication you recommended to see which 'zonks' me out quickest!!

Thanks for the website link Andrew, really interesting, it does put things into perspective. I take more of a risk everyday when I drive on the A1!!!

Thanks again.

I think what it is for me is that I have my precious thing on board, my SON! I know that if I fly and it crashes then sod it but it is not being in control that gets me and the bad thing is I know how to fly one so................. I know what all the knobs and dials are for. Makes me even more scared lol.

I am going to docs see what she says and I will try before I fly. thank guys

The next time I head for Bentley motors and they have one heading for Aus I'll let you know, you can sit in the car in the container and it'll only take 6 weeks by boat
Better than 28 hours on a plane?????????????/

Will need to stock up on sleeping tablets and hypnotherapy CD's. Phobia is so bad have been looking at cruises to Brisbane, only problem is they only depart once a year, and take 43 days to get there!

You have to include the time difference
We flew from Manchester to Dubai, then to Singapore then on to Melbourne and it was with Emirates, brill flights and service.

You include the time differences?

Why?

I just count the actual time sitting on the plane.

I never used to be scared of flying but as I have become older I have got worse. Take off is the worst for me. Once up in the air and cruising I'm normally fine. Landings are not a problem for me either, just the damn take offs !!

The way I overcome my fear is to think about all the planes taking off and landing all over the world and say to myself why would mine crash out of all those thousands ? Why would I be so special ?? I would love to know the statistics , I bet it's only one in every million or so flights that crash. Odds are probably you are more likely to win the lottery than to be involved in a plane crash !

Right on, how many plane crashes do you hear about compared to road accidents? I bet you travel in a car ok? Flying is one of the safest forms of transport, especially with the way technology has come along, an aircraft can take off and land its self, the crew are there "just in case".
Dont worry about it, its a doddle. (easy for me to say, I know)

Good luck,
Paul

Do you realize that you are more likely to get killed by a donkey than through a plane crashing? Honestly!!
I've just got back from London after attending a week long seminar with Paul McKenna and now love snakes! they are warm blooded and really cute .. and i was petrified before the course!
try hypnotherapy together with nlp (neuro-linguistic programming) it really does work.
And... focus on why you are taking that flight.. looking forward to your new future in Oz!
