Hi Kerry, where did you go on your off-roading adventure?

Next Public holiday has 'The Taste of the Huon" down here, so hope you can make it down! That might be a good day to have a house-warming in the evening after everyone's been to "The Taste"

We went offroading to Murdanna I think its called, and the beach is pirates bay at Eaglehawk Neck. We stopped at a pub in Dunnally and had a lovely dinner and dessert.

No neck aches or headaches, but my right foot was aching slightly from putting my passenger foot brake on a few times at some scarey downhill moments!

The taste at Huon sounds great, is that on 8 hour day weekend? If so I think it will only be me and Alex, as Duncan is on a manly off road weekend up at the great lakes that weekend. Hows the new wheels?

Thanks Kerry....I will stay in touch
Can't believe how hard it is to find the right place to live!!!! :(
Andrew has been offered the job of a Senior Project Engineer with $1*0,000AU + super + mobile phone + laptop + company car + 4 weeks rental paid in Cairns, and we don't think a company in Tas could match this.
Hope things work out for us.......going to be hard wherever we go with 4 kids!!!!

yup, long weekend -

New wheels are great!!! Love the car!!

Beth - I don't think you will get that sort of an offer from a Company in Tas. so you're quite right to go with that one to Cairns. You will definately need a pool in the garden there though:thumbsup:

Sounds scary  I bet the old adrenaline was pumping though!
I've only ever done that kind of thing once - when i went to Las Vegas with friends - we did an offroad trip into the desert and mountains - alongwith a horse riding trip (that was eventful to say the least - but i'll save that story for another time!)...

That looks great - i'd love the arts & crafts aspect to it as well. Amazed that it draws 20,000 visitors over the 2days that it's held - that's a LOT of people! :)
I'm also amazed at the entrance fee - just $6.00 per adult - that is so good.
That kind of price encourages people to go out! yesterday at a wildlife park here - we paid £12 per adult and £9 for Eden (total £33) just to get in - and that's before spending anything else.... The UK is not good for days out - often works out so expensive - and especially if you have more than 1 child to pay for. Are entrance fee's generally quite low in Tas to events / places of interest?
I know in Perth that they were fairly expensive - we paid a lot to get in AQWA there - and was in and out in less than 2 hours!
For Eden's 5th birthday next month we're taking her to Legoland over here - and having looked up the entrance fee's to the Park it's £34 per adult and £26 for Eden to get in - more than $200......:eek: I think we'll take a picnic if we can!

Thought i'd start with trying to get some shipping quotes. Have just made enquiries with Doree Bonner and PSS Intnl.... Anyone else got any other suggestions? :D We definitely need a 20ft container as will be bringing most of our 3bed semi with us (apart from beds and the sofa's are still questionable!). Leaving white goods and cooker though as we're planning on including them in with the house sale. Haven't got the time or inclination to do what's required cleaning wise with wooden garden furniture - although we have the contents of 2 garden sheds, a plastic greenhouse, childrens playhouse etc etc etc to come with us....We know it's going to be more than £4,000 - so will be interesting to see what quotes we get...

Hope you all enjoyed your extra day off today!

Kerry, thanks for the pics - the beach shots look lovely - where was that?
was it an organised day trip?

Teabag - what's the Taste of Huon involve? Is it the same collection of local producers of food/wine etc that do the "Taste" at Salamanca?
I love my food - this is one of the things i'm really looking forward to moving to the Island for!

Ian&Helena - your weekend sounded great too - the drinking part sounded like fun - although i must admit i'm not a wine drinker...much to my friends horror! I have yet to find one i could honestly admit i really enjoy drinking - and over the years i've tried quite a few! I'm probably classed as very uncouth in the wine department because if i cant handle the taste i'm guilty of adding lemonade or soda to make it palatable! ;) Yes, my friends tut in disgust when i do this!
With red wine i'm not sure if it's something to do with the fruit or any colourings - but i often end up with a face the same colour as what i was drinking!!!! Not a good look!

How did you get to Bruny Island? is it a ferry from Hobart? is there specific camping area's or can you go where you like?

the ferry goes from Kettering which is about 40km south of Hobart, camping is restricted to designated sites.

HI cathy, just catching up on the posts. Dont use PSS we used them, they packed really badly and loads of our stuff was really badly damaged when it was unpacked in Tas. Have heard that John Masons are really good and know from our experience in Tas that Wridgeways is the company they use there to unload and they are fantastic. Also know that Allied Pickfords have their own company in Tas so you will get the services all the way through from them. Whens the house going on the market?
