Pretty soon these companies will realise they are not saving any money if all their customers change to those that use Australian labour - hopefully!!! Nothing worse than having to explain where Tasmania is to someone supposedly helping you with an Australian service ( 3 mobile phone company :curse: ) Oh no - dont tell me that! Only joking - i know it's happening all over the place. The same company i work for are US owned and they're starting it over there as well .... Knowing how patriotic most Americans are - i've heard it's not going down too well! Personally i feel sorry for the Indians that are over - they are really nice people - but are suffering the backlash of everyone's anger about the situation. We cant blame them really they're just trying to make a living the same as everyone else. We were recently told that the average employee for this company in Bangalore - all of whom speak very good English and have degrees, is about £5,000 a year... The average in our office in Romford is probably more than £25,000 annually - so you can see why they'd rather have 5 members of staff compared to just 1...:frown: |

I'm not doing them as my house.....all super tidy and clean has been turned upside down on their return!! So with the mess I make doing pancakes I think i'll leave it for today ;) Hope you are ok :D Zoe xx |
Re: Tasmania??
oh shit forgot it was pancake day!!!
But we did have pancakes on sunday though, and we do have pancakes now and then, so I won't say anything maybe it will go un noticed! ;) I think telstra have one in india or somewhere similar cos when I activated duncan's phone I got an asian accent (not me the OP! lol). Or I guess they could've been in australia with an asian accent, who knows. Our Mortgage was approved yesterday so it is now 45 days from yesterday, wahooo! It normally takes 30 but the owners wanted a bit longer. A big fat house warming on the agenda me thinks! :D |

Re: Tasmania??
Well, we had estate agents round today to value the house. We spent all morning getting the place completely ship shape and spotlessly clean - offloaded Eden to her grandparents for the day - and transferred Jared from playpen, to highchair to playpen for the hour or so before the 1st estate agent arrived so that he wouldn't create mayhem and a complete mess! :D Thankfully he fell asleep whilst the 1st one was here and woke as he was due to leave!
Anyway, we were quite pleased as the figure they all came out with was what we had in our heads (although we were hoping to be £20,000 under in our guessing but that wasn't likely to happen as we've been watching local prices for about the last 2 years!)...:) The good news is that both agents have people waiting for 3 bed semi's in our area (we come under a small area called The Mawneys in Romford), and there's often not too many properties that come up for sale.... Both agents felt that we would potentially sell our property within a couple of weeks because of the demand and because nothing much needs doing in our house  Which although brilliant if it happened has now got me in a panic that i'm not organised enough for it all to happen within a couple of months if we managed to secure a sale very quickly.... So the job for this week before signing with an agent next weekend is.......to phone some shippers for quotes!!!! and i'd better get some ink for the printer at home as i need to print off those bank account forms to fill in! :) God isn't moving stressful - and we haven't even signed up for anything yet!:blink: but it'll all be worth it........:thumbsup: |
Re: Tasmania??
just curious......
for those of you already out in Tas that had UK properties to sell prior to going - how long was it once you had a buyer to the actual date you moved to Oz???? do you feel that you had sufficient time to finalise all personal things and do all your goodbyes etc without being in a rush???? (i know this doesnt apply to everyone as some will be like Andy - who is absolutely gagging to get on that plane!) |
