Oh my god how I miss having the groceries delivered!! I hate shopping at the best of times but with a 4 year old in tow I just dread it!

I love those pictures Pjr55, I especially love the pics of the garden flowers and garden birds, I can now put names to the gorgeous birds we see in our garden.

Glad to hear the new arrivals are doing well, I never did get that picture of Heidi! That nappy change sounds hilarious, although I'm sure you weren't laughing when you were clearing it up!! lol I have to say I think you are very good and brave using the cloth nappies, I always said I was gonna use them, but never did get around to it.

Yep we have had a few flights out of Heathrow, bloody awful airport!

We had some snow up on the high ground on friday, but by saturday it had all melted, shame we were going to have a play sat morning. Sat and Sun we had some lovely spring like weather, really sunny and today Hobart was really sunny, but here at Magra the fog stayed most of the day. It cleared up by 3pm and was lovely and sunny again, it's really funny how the weather can be so different just 30 mins away.

Mash is growing really quickly, I will try and sort out some recent photo's for ya'll. She is doing really well and has fitted nicely into our family, she has a great little personality and has proved to be a good watch dog too.

Bye for now
Kerry

Hi Zoe, you do get used to picking up the poo when you're a dog owner! if you ever have any dogs - all you need to do is designate one of your boys to be the proud owner of the pooper scooper!!!

there are some very annoying women that take their dogs for a walk to Eden's school in the morning with their kids.... sometimes i have to dodge the droppings with the buggy wheels!!!! One day i missed - (thankfully we've a side access to our garden) - and i spent a good half hour with the hose - trying to get it all off before i could then bring the buggy indoors!
My Dad makes me laugh - for their little dog he's always got a few nappy sacks in his coat pocket for when they go out (just incase)...

Hey Zoe yes she is all trained, she is very good. She scratches and cries at the front door when she wants to go out. It took about 3-4 weeks for the penny to drop, so we did get a few accidents. She really should be an outdoor dog anyway being a hound, but we are too darn soppy for our own good!

Here are some recent pics of outside our front door with the fog. Bugger I can't seem to do it!! The site must be playing up or something, I'll try another day.

Is a lovely view from your front door though!

We're doing the countdown now till our holiday this weekend!
I'm in work this evening - and then off until the 6th August Go away early Sunday morning - so Eden was pleased to be told this morning that she has just 2 1/2 sleeps to go!!!

The Perth rellies are over - and funnily enough they haven't asked one thing about our move to Oz.....(me thinks it's because we didnt choose Perth somehow! )......

To be honest you wouldn't know if it was misty at night, you can't see hand infront of your face most nights, its pitch black here, no light pollution so you can see the milky way on a clear night, it's totally amazing. I've never seen such a beautiful sky at night.

I am really jealous that you are going away, I could really do with a holiday right now. I am bored stiff of being a "homemaker" as the aussies like to call us stay at home mums! I really must find my self something to get busy with, maybe it will be better when the veggie patch is up and running. Until then yaaaawwwwn!

Hi Kerry that must take some getting used to when you've lived in a places previously with street lights and houses giving off light....
that's lovely if you can see all the stars& everything at night - i do like a nice sky! You should get yourselves a telescope! I have seen quite a few of them in people's houses when looking at houses on realestate.com - makes sense to have them where some of the houses are due to the wonderful sights either in the sky / on the land or out at sea...

When do you reckon you'll be able to get stuck into your veggie patch?
are you not able to start anything off in a little greenhouse or some of those plastic things (cant think of their names!!! you wouldnt think that my Dad was a gardener for a living - i haven't got a scooby when it comes to gardening - Andy's the one with the green fingers in our house!!)
Andy was oh so proud of his 1st radishes that he grew recently problem was - he put them in the bottom of the fridge in the salad box - and they got forgotten about and not eaten (had to throw them away yesterday but the ones we tried did taste nice!). Hopefully we'd make sure we used anything we grew in Tas!

Hopefully we'll get to Tas for your summer at least! Then you'll have to join us on the beach somewhere for a bit of R&R and a drinky or two!

I was getting on well sorting out stuff to take away with us and doing a bit of ironing as Jared was asleep - but he's awake now - so no chance now of getting more done before i go to work later!

Oh well, best do him some pasta for his lunch!
Cathy

Hi Kay, we're off to Alcudia in Majorca for a fortnight early Sunday morning. We weren't originally planning to go away (as we'd hoped to sell our house) but need to get away now for a bit! We wanted a short flight
and the weather is in the 30's so there was no need to go too far. Greece and Spain seem to be having exceptionally hot weather at the moment...
We've been to the Island a few times (all the Balearics are family favourites), so it's nice to go somewhere familiar and instantly feel at home and relaxed (well as relaxed as you can with two kids!).

Sorry you're having miserable weather - but it's not that great over here either considering it's meant to be summer! We had one lovely day earlier in the week when it was quite warm, and then it's been cloudy, a bit miserable, windy and we had a few showers yesterday! Andy's niece and her boyfriend arrived yesterday (from Perth but had been staying with her sister in Abu Dhabi for a few days - hence why Andy's sister arrived last weekend as they've been staggering their arrivals at his Mum's!) kept saying that British weather is crap and i really wanted them to be proved wrong by landing when the sun was out - but no such luck there!

Keep working on Colin.....you never know - if i nag Andy for long enough he normally agree's to anything just to shut me up!

take care!
Cathy

Hi All

Sorry i feel a bit as if i am butting into a long conversation here but i couldn't decide where else would be better to post this!

We are a family of 5 who hope to be joining you in Tassie later this year. We have been following this thread for ages and just love all the pics etc. We have been to Oz before but never to Tassie so it has helped our research no end.

We have 3 school age children - boys are 13 and 11 and a little girl of 5 - so wondered if anyone has opinions they would share with us on schools? That is a bit of an open ended question as we havn't decided where to live yet anyway!!

We also have a bit of a niggling worry about finding jobs. We have spoken with the Gov migrant assistance people who have assured us that we should be able to find work 'reasonably quickly' but we can't help feeling that it might not be that easy. Steve is a spray painter and i am a nursery nurse.

Any help and reassurance would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Anna

Hi Anna, firstly welcome to the Tassie thread!
Whereabouts in the UK are you? do you have your visa's already?
i cant really help with the questions about schools, i guess it would help if you can give the locals an idea as to whether you'll be heading North or South of the Island? We have a 5 year old daughter also - but we're unsure until we arrive as to where we'll be living. I have looked at various sites / information on schools, but i think until we arrive and decide on an area that i'm better leaving my research there until we're settled and ready to enrol her somewhere...
We visited Tasmania on our visa validation trip last year and loved the place so hopefully you will too. Seems a lovely place to bring up children.

Don't be shy about posting any questions you might have - there's always someone willing to help out with info / answers!

Cathy

p.s. with work - i think most employees like to wait until you arrive on the Island before offering jobs etc....but if the gov people are confident that you'd both find work i'm sure you would do - one of you being a tradesperson and the other in childcare i'm sure you wont have a problem.
