Thanks for the birthday wishes Zoe, Sam & Donna - i had a nice day yesterday!
and Zoe you cheeky thing
- fancy advertising a woman's age on the Barbie - tut tut tut! no pretending i'm a spring chicken now!
(only joking!)...
i would have loved to have shared my chocolate cream cake that Andy got me with you all - but seeing as i couldn't - we'll just have to eat it all
But as Eden would say - it was a bit "sicklish" anyway!
taking the kids to a friends 3 year old's birthday party at 1pm today - but other than that - having a lazy day today (excluding the housework that needs doing in a bit!)...
What's everyone up to today? whats the weather like where everyone is?
it's sunny here at the moment but they've forecast rain for later!
take care all.

Well looks like we may be are leaving Tassie. As much as we love it here there are just too many upsets. Our house has still not sold in 7 months and we are not together as a family (wifey in UK trying to sell the house). The strain is getting too much. Our rental house is being sold and we have to move and finding a place is not easy here. And things are not helped by having one of the kids in hospital the other week (very well looked after i have to say) and now some bullying at school with the other. Come next week we will know for sure if we go or stay, but it's not looking good. We have gave it a good go we really have. But after the death of a good friend a few months ago it makes you realise that life is just too short and to be apart for too long is just no good. I would just like to wish every one the best luck in trying Tassie and hope it works out for you. I will confirm this later on in the week if i can. I won't have any regrets about it and have to say it was a privilege to have lived and work here. The fantastic bunch of people i work with will be probably expecting this but i hope they understand. They have done nothing but welcome us and make us feel part of Tassie. And that's what Tassie is like. Good place, great people. Oh boy, feel like i am gonna cry.

It's just really sad that circumstances have stopped you all being together. I'm amazed that you've managed to live seperately for as long as you have - so i can completely understand how much you know long to be back together as a family. I know you've previously said that each time your wife has visited that it was hard saying goodbye again. I too lost one of my closest friends in May last year - and i can completely understand where you're coming from with regards to life being too short.....what happened to us made us re-evaluate certain things in our life. I hope everything works out for you - and perhaps you can return to Tas sometime in the future - because despite all the setbacks it sounds like you've really enjoyed the Island as a home....
Good luck to you all - and please do let everyone know what happens.
take care

Sorry to hear you can't stay in Tassie Lenmil, but family comes first and this isn't the right time for you to be here, I hope you get another opportunity but if not Home is where you're loved and you make the best of it wherever that may be

Hi everyone
I am just starting out in the process of visa application etc.
I am a teacher (Maths) in a secondary school and was wondering if anyone has any advice regarding the teaching opportunities in Tasmania.
Any expat teachers currently in Tas?
Lots of questions but I'm sure we can get to those once I know the basics!!
Thanks in advance.

Thank you!
Just got home from having a lovely Indian Meal with friends....so need to sit on the computer for a bit to let the food go down!
So where have you guys been this weekend? I love the fact that you go away so often - i think it's great you keep yourselves so busy!
How is the new job going?

new job is good, bit busier than my last one, but 30% pay increase is worth it...

Marathon training! Wow - sounds like hard work to me!

It was the London Marathon here today....(you probably know that already though!
)...We were at a kids party yesterday afternoon and one of the Dads was running today - so i'm going to ask my friend how he got on when i see her in work tomorrow. We were talking about diet before the race - and he said he'd been stocking up on carbohydrates (pasta etc) the last week or so...
We were also talking about the fact that someone died recently from drinking too much water during a race...which i think has surprised a lot of people when it was in the papers recently...
Glad you're getting on ok with the new job - a 30% pay increase must be a very good motivator to tolerate being a bit busier than before!
That's great...We get our pay reviews sometime this week.....i can certainly guarantee ours wont be anywhere near that percentage!
Before i had the kids and worked full-time i used to get a bonus each year - which used to be great as it always paid for a really good holiday each year (one year i treated Andy to 2 weeks in Mauritius on the back of one)...but since becoming part time and being taken over - no-one gets them anymore!

Thanks Cathy
The guy has no chain behind, looking for a quick completion, possibly exchanging in 6 weeks
Downside is we have had to drop by over £27,000, not an experience we have had before, like you, we have previously sold at good times.
Hope your lady becomes your buyer

Hi Sam. Boy it's been quiet on the tassie thread last couple of days...
I thought i'd break the silence!

How are things progressing with your house sale? All ok i hope?
We've heard nothing from the friend of our next door neighbour - and haven't heard a dicky bird from our estate agents either since Andy spoke to them last week....
We've resigned ourselves now to a potentially long wait...Everytime we switch the TV news on there's something about the property price drop and the countries finances!
So if all goes ok with your sale - when do you anticipate actually moving to Tas? I recall you saying that you'd probably move into some holiday accomodation near where you live for a bit 1st...

Hope you have some better news re the house soon.
Still keeping everything crossed here that it goes smoothly, I'm sleeping terribly as my mind is constantly buzzing!
So far, so good, we are looking at arriving in Tas mid June if all goes well.
Not booking anything until contracts exchanged, but will book into self catering appartment for 2 - 3 weeks whilst we get our bearings and decide on houses etc. We have a rough idea where we would like to be but need to drive/walk areound to get more of a feel and visit schools etc.Very exciting but trying not to get carried away as it could easily not happen to plan.

Mid-June - that's not far off at all So...have you started sorting stuff out etc in preparation for moving? Did you get anymore quotes for shipping? We need to get onto a few more companies - but cant get motivated at the moment knowing we might not be going anywhere for a bit...

I know what you mean about the mind buzzing thing at night time. I used to do Sudoko before hitting the sack, that way it takes your mind off the what ifs and I hopes buzzing around in your head! I found it used to relax me and I got a better nights sleep for it, but what ever works for you mate, maybe crossword or wordsearch or something similar.
Anyway sending good luck hugs to you mate for a smooth sale (((goodluck hugs)))
