Point is, how would you, or the press know?
They can get the info under FOI, same as the RACQ/NRMA can, as in the Storey Bridge camera. If they, the police, have a good reason to exceed the speed limit, they have a flashing lights and sirens. Even then they have to drive with caution, same as firefighters/fire appliances, ambulances.
Recently some guy sent footage of two motorcycle cops cruising up the Bruce Hwy near Caboolture doing over 130kph, side by side, proved by his speedo, without lights, sirens etc, into ACA and it made the next days show. Unfortunately for him, when the two cops realised that someone was following them with a camera, they pulled him over and booked him.

But unfortunately for them, their mugs must have been plastered all over national tv after breaking the law themselves!

In Qld, it gets sweeped under the carpet, and publicly denied, although a few have been made examples of for drink-driving.

A mate's husband who's a police officer (his dad was too) said the cronyism in the force is absolutely shocking. He's still loyal and refuses to be drawn on specifics though, no matter how hard I try!

Amazing how much a full-face helmet hides. Nothing was ever publicly acknowledged by Police HQ or the Minister.

No excuses there, but there again, what idiot is going to follow the police while they are riding above the speed limit (not knowing if there is a legitimate
reason) whilst obviously speeding themselves and filming it all on camera

Someone who wants to expose the duplicitious nature of Qld Police, despite the cost to themselves maybe?

Like most organisations, they prefer to keep things in-house and look after their mates, you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. Unfortunately, since the Fitzgerald Inquiry, public scrutiny of the police has increased.

Ok he was an idiot, but if they had a legitimate excuse, they should have used their lights and sirens. No lights and sirens were activated until they saw they were being followed. I wouldn't be surprised if ACA/Channel 9 paid the fine.

Or somebody who's had a speeding ticket in the past, has a chip on their shoulder and is too thick to see how dangerous their own actions are, maybe

Don't know anything about this story, but by the sounds of it the cops
didn't have an excuse.
However, no sirens or lights, doesn't always mean no legitimate reason!!

A relative of mine, last time I heard, was an Inspector with Qld Internal Affairs, after being promoted from being in charge of the Traffic Camera Unit.

If there is a legitimate reason then they should be on blues and twos to warn other road users of their elevated speed. Period.

I have two brothers, one a fast response paramedic and one police officer. If they need to go above the limit/though red lights then blues and twos no question. The old 'operational requirements' is a complete cop out!!
