speed camera's

Recently some guy sent footage of two motorcycle cops cruising up the Bruce Hwy near Caboolture doing over 130kph, side by side, proved by his speedo, without lights, sirens etc, into ACA and it made the next days show. Unfortunately for him, when the two cops realised that someone was following them with a camera, they pulled him over and booked him.

I Know for a fact they do prosecute police officers speeding in police vehicles here in WA. My brother in law was finded when he was caught on camera, he realised after he should have just pulled over the car in front for a routine check and that would have been his excuse for speeding and had the fine quashed.

They can get the info under FOI, same as the RACQ/NRMA can, as in the Storey Bridge camera. If they, the police, have a good reason to exceed the speed limit, they have a flashing lights and sirens. Even then they have to drive with caution, same as firefighters/fire appliances, ambulances.

reason) whilst obviously speeding themselves and filming it all on camera

Someone who wants to expose the duplicitious nature of Qld Police, despite the cost to themselves maybe?

Like most organisations, they prefer to keep things in-house and look after their mates, you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. Unfortunately, since the Fitzgerald Inquiry, public scrutiny of the police has increased.

Ok he was an idiot, but if they had a legitimate excuse, they should have used their lights and sirens. No lights and sirens were activated until they saw they were being followed. I wouldn't be surprised if ACA/Channel 9 paid the fine.

didn't have an excuse.
However, no sirens or lights, doesn't always mean no legitimate reason!!

A relative of mine, last time I heard, was an Inspector with Qld Internal Affairs, after being promoted from being in charge of the Traffic Camera Unit.

I have two brothers, one a fast response paramedic and one police officer. If they need to go above the limit/though red lights then blues and twos no question. The old 'operational requirements' is a complete cop out!!
