Personally I wouldn't entertain going anywhere without visiting first and that includes your kids, fair enough if they are babies (2 and under) but with such a big change in life kids MUST be involved too, if you involve them they will accept it much better..

...Actually I have three, if you read the post he mentioned money was an issue, indeed if you have the cash then take the kids, if not then it's a fair compromise.

personally I don't think its something that can be compromised..if moneys an issue then save up and go when you can afford to take the kids, a pre move visit involving all the family is something that should be built into the cost of the entire move no matter what...

Hi there, my hubby came out for 3 weeks, stayed with friends, we could not afford for us all to come, and all that money, you need to save that money.
I knew if he liked it i would, and he just fell in love.
I f you come out for holiday you will have great time and love the place, but thats not the same as living here is it. We live 2 hours south Perth, Bunbury, it is so beautiful here. Denise

I have read before how some peeps have visited here, there and everywhere in oz and loved it ... did the move and decided they had made a mistake and moved back.

Doing a reccie does not IMO make a scrap of difference, even trying to live as near as pos to everyday life can never be the same as you know you are going home ... and when 9 out of 10 people go home because they miss there family and friends no reccie could be long enough to make you feel this.

All in all you are taking a chance and you either like it, lump it or go home. If you have doubts before the move you need to evaluate your situation ... to me its not that your crazy for not ever having visited its those that go, knowing deep down that they don't really want it but don't want to lose face ????

Good luck to all

We had never been. Just got the visa and moved. Then just picked a place that had work. Life is a journey, and more is about attitude. People lived where we came from, and here too. Just did lots of internet research. No regrets, no worries
