. Dagboys package includes those things I mentioned, plus a few others & from memory its worth about $30k, so its not chickenfeed.

I was vaguely aware of much of this but handy to see figures quoted.
It makes a big difference to me as virtually everything I may earn will attract the higher rate of tax as my pension takes me very rapidly to the limit.
Unless I can minimise my tax bill it will not really be worth me working.
I do intend to take expert advice as soon as I have some idea of how much I may earn.
Looking at this makes me think it may be worthwhile having a mortgage, for example, simply to avoid some tax.
Best wishes

Unless of course it is for an investment property

I was not thinking that a mortgage would attract tax relief but that it could be part of a salary package.
I had some information from a health board a couple of years ago which seemed to indicate this.
Is this not correct?

Thats a great help guys...
Problem is that the job specs don't stipulate what these benefits will be... Do I negotiate these individually or will they be pre arranged... It seems very complicated...
Cheers again...

When I was offered a package a couple of years ago it was all quite open but I got the impression it was a matter for negotiation with your employer.
There does not seem to be a problem arranging it but it would no doubt help if you were fully aware of what may be available before you start negotiating.
In the health services they were quite keen to use salary packaging as a way of persuading you to take up employment. It seems to be normal practice.
It may differ in different sectors.
Good luck
