Thanks! it all depends on whether he gets a job offer and whether we think it's right for us.If it is,it would be a few months before we relocate.

What would be a 'big bucks' salary, does anyone know?
He is on quite good money here (tho' we've never any left at the month end!!) and we weren't sure what to expect in Oz but we don't mind less money if the relocation package is OK.
In the mid 80,s on construction of the LNG plant wages were take home $1000 per week but probably have not changed much since then.If he is working for Woodside they should give him a house as the rent can be $500-800 per week.A friend (sparky) works on process utilities on a 14 day on 14 day off basis from Perth and is on $7000 per 4 week period ,but he is employed on a casual basis so no holiday pay, sick leave etc.Karratha can be a bit isolated ,and very hot(52C).the cool nights (28C) you will need a jumper as the body adjusts to the high temps.Good luck.

Cash sounds great, but you will earn every cent. The Pilbara is a hard place to live, no question. Check the visa too. Are you going to be stuck there for 5 years?.
For the sake of your own sanity you must check it out before committing.

Think- Do you think they would be recruiting in the UK if they could employ people from Oz?. What the people from Oz know that you don't?
