The cost of living used to be considerably less in Aus, but not really true any more I'm afraid

Some things are cheaper, and some things are more expensive. Many people find that it averages out. However WA may be more expensive, for food for example, than over here in the East.

My opinion is that Australia will not always be financially better, although for some it is, but it is a lifestyle choice.

Many people prefer to swap "£/$ richer lifestyle" for the "living lifestyle" that is available to those who want it.

Having said that though, there are also many that do live just for the $, and live quite comfortably.

The cost of living in Aus is no longer what it used to be mate. The pound is no longer as strong as it was so you won't get as much bang for your buck when you come to live here. Added to that everyday living is not as cheap as it was even for high earners.

Moving to Aus is definitely a lifestyle choice. If it's that what you want, then it's a fantastic place to be. If it's to live cheaply - you're going to be disappointed mate.
