Eh! My salary in the UK is about double the national average. If $120k - $150k is about double the national average in Oz, then are you saying I wouldn't be any better off? I don't understand this as the cost of living as I understand it is less if anything in Oz. Surely therefore if I earn £40k in the Uk, but earn £65k in Oz ($130,000), I must be better off

My opinion is that Australia will not always be financially better, although for some it is, but it is a lifestyle choice.
Many people prefer to swap "£/$ richer lifestyle" for the "living lifestyle" that is available to those who want it.
Having said that though, there are also many that do live just for the $, and live quite comfortably.

Moving to Aus is definitely a lifestyle choice. If it's that what you want, then it's a fantastic place to be. If it's to live cheaply - you're going to be disappointed mate.
