Random Breath Tests
#31
Agreed, we have driven past lots in our camper van over Christmas and never been stopped. They probably feel sorry for us, but on Princes Highway between Batemans Bay and Nowra on Saturday they were just pulling 10 cars in at a time...but only the ones in the inside lane...so to avoid the RBT, just drive in the outside lane!

Pity they don't have random idiot tests. Idiots cause far more accidents than drunks.

They should test for drugs too. I wonder how many drive under the influence of weed- or worse???

VicPol are amongs the only police force in th world to use the roadside saliva tests.
"Of the 29,911 drivers tested last year, 327 tested positive to drugs. This compares to 369, or one in 59, in 2007. "

I agree. Every contact I have had with the NSW police has left me yearning for the good old British Bobby. There's certainly no touchy feely side to law enforcement here...

Everyone knows the rules about what the legal alcohol limit is to drive. If you want your licence then dont get caught out - stay sober or catch a cab. Them that get caught drink driving only have themselves to blame.

Sparky hub was pulled in on Christmas day in Gawler, the police must have thought they had him, cause he didn't pull up far enough and then ended up stalling the car!
All was fine but it does make you nervous even when you know you're ok.
But I agree, DD over here seems to be accepted and not considered a big deal. I was evil a few months ago as hub had been out for some drinks with a work mate and his work mate gave him a lift home. I saw OH say goodbye to him (he couldn't see me) and was straight away ready to strike. He was meant to be calling me to pick him up or get a tram home so I asked him nicely if he had a good time and was the tram ok. OH lied to my face- he didn't even tell me the truth. So then I let rip and said he was just as responsible as his mate was- he got into the car knowing full well that the guy was over the limit and how would he have felt if an innocent person had been hurt? And when I got the truth out of him as to how many they had drank-well, it was disgusting.
As a result, I deliberately picked him up from his Xmas meal before he could get into another DD's car. (Which would have def happened).
Just before Xmas we were driving along one of the main roads here and we came across what I can only guess what a drunk motorcyclist-weaving across the road, not looking at the road
-.
It is truly shocking.

People get really shitty with you when you refuse to get in the car with them when they have had a few, guilty minds perhaps...
Has his attitude changed any since you picked him up from his xmas meal?
