This was supposed to be a sensible question & a few have responded intelligently whilst all I can say for the other replies,
I am sorry you were ever allowed entry into my country. You certainly never passed any IQ test. Don't know where you hail from originally but I wish you would all go back.

Quite simple really, maybe your convict genes prevent you from understanding this?

I don't have convict genes. My father was English and my mother is a second generation Australian (English father).

I've lived in both countries, have you?, I have bought and sold a lot of cars in both countries, have you?

I guess you are just an expert on everything.

That's right, I questioned the answer. I did not "profess the opposite." Somebody needs to step away from the keyboard and calm down.
My what?

No I haven't. What's your point? You seem intent on arguing a point I am not contesting. http://i53.tinypic.com/2cwx0qv.gif
Well, people say that, but I think they're just being kind.

The fact is that you don't know what you're talking about, don't worry though, just revert to a bad joke to cover up on that

Do you love it? - Yes
Are you better off? - Yes
What do you like better about Australia than New Zealand? Developed country. Proper jobs with proper opportunities and chances of progression. Westernised economy. Not as parochial. People in Oz (Melbourne anyway) accept that there are different ways of doing things rather than the way it has always been done.
What do you prefer about New Zealand to Australia? Nothing.
Are you working in Australia? Yes
Was it easy to find a job in Australia? Yes, had 3 interviews in first week here.
Have you bought a property in Australia? Yes
If so how much Stamp Duty did you pay? Can't remember but built house so stamp duty on land only.
Have you bought a car in Australia? yes 2.
Are cars cheaper in Australia than New Zealand? Can't compare as bought 2 new cars here but could only afford 12 year old car in NZ.
Do you see your move as permanent? Yes.
Are you returning to live in New Zealand? I would rather stick knitting needles in my eyes.
If so When?
Was moving to Australia a stepping stone to further afield like UK, USA or Europe? Nope.

Sounds like you did not do much research before you left the UK for New Zealand. Most of the people i know did not move there to have well paid jobs and all the trappings of a big city lifestyle. New Zealand offers a fantastic lifestyle if you love the outdoors, the South Island of New Zealand is probably one of the most stunning and diverse places in terms of natural beauty i have ever been and knocks the socks off Victoria which is bigger. The people i know that have made good money in New Zealand have been entrepreneurs.

We are heading back to the Med next year, we find NZ not to our taste.
Well I have given it a good go but honestly can say I prefer Australia to NZ because the Aussies have a better sense of humour & they do not only focus on Sport as Kiwi's do.
However having said all that next year I am returning to the Med to retire because it has a nicer climate, more culture & history, interesting villages, people & they enjoy life and do not worship material things. I find NZ boring & so I will make the changes to where I chose to live rather than try to change the people & the country.

Honsestly if a retiree finds NZ boring and lacking in culture and history, then they surely already have the answers to her own question without any need for the smoke and mirrors b0ll0cks about cars and stamp duty.

The OP is nothing more than a troll and knows full well what it is like to live in NZ, only three years ago in March 2008 she said:
Can't say that there's been any marked improvement in the last three years.

The OP did not ask what it is like to Live in NZ or Aus for that matter Jangles. And calling them a troll is pretty rich coming from you.
How you can stand to live in NZ beats me !

We live in Mission Bay 7km East of Auckland. As roads are not good here no motorways & even though our population is only 1 million certain areas are difficult to commute to work from

Looks like a very bad case of ping pong ten pound pom-itis to me. There is no know cure but my feeling is that since she spent most of her adult life in Australia that's where she's going to stand the best chance of making a recovery. Having paid a large chunk of her pension here too it would make sense to head home.
I'd recommend either the NSW central or the Sunny coasts, somewhere where its not too "boring"

Yes the natural beauty is stunning despite the Kiwis best efforts to wreck it but you can't eat the scenery!
