Re: Is Private Health Worth it? - Decision is made
Update.
My wife can't start radiotherapy for another 8 weeks because the system is overloaded with patients and they are short staffed. This will be 14 weeks total after surgery which is sub-optimal for the cancer not coming back.
They did offer us the option of outpatient radiotherapy at their facility in Wembley (3 or 4 week wait) but that would cost $2000 out of pocket. Private health doesn't cover radiotherapy at all.
We were planning a trip back to the UK in July but that's now unlikely to happen a the Dr. recommends to not fly for a few weeks after the treatment has ended.

Go private, even if you have to pay, sell something, downgrade the car, sell the TV, whatever, its your kids mum, your wife.
The cancer treatment here used to be a bus to brisbane, imagine that, coming back on a long bus journey after chemo etc.
There is such a wait for many things. Partner recently had some annual check up, they found some very odd bloods and he needed instant check up, potential cancer. Guess what? the wait on medicare would be far too long, private did cover it all but $200. All clear luckily.

Yeah, maybe (remember it's not private though, it's still Medicare but because it's off site for some reason we have to pay out of pocket expenses. I'm worried if we choose that path we'll still be stuffed around).

Thanks for that.
And super special thanks to eddie007 and Dorothy for their amazing offers of help and support.
We have decided to go for the "spend the money" option as the RPH date for treatment to begin has gone back even further to the 29th May.
We decided to stop fannying around and just bite the bullet and do it.
