I would guess so - but again this isn't stated, and none of the participants on here have said. There's no mention on screen of needing a visa to visit, or if little things like declaring criminal records before getting one.
Certainly not any good to base any migration research on.

On a positive note, we are in final stages of committing to move to Adelaide (being financed via optional redundancy, so we are approaching that point of decision...!!!) so last night's programme, although "interestingly" presented was like a breath of fresh air: dispelled any of the last minute wobbles we are experiencing as a family.
What it has done is exactly as described by previous posters: sent a postcard!! And a very nice postcard at that!! Roll on June to October this year (now thinking to come out in spring)
Good luck to all the visa applicants this year - let's do our bit to preserve the Oz economy.......

I couldn't believe she said this. I also can't believe they took a couple over who didn't have a visa yet, and showed them attempting to buy a house. It's not a good thing to show - they had no visa, no mortgage, and no job. They only went on the show to have a wee holiday didn't they?

Yes I noticed that too!Whats more worrying is Amanda's comment that where ever you live in Adelaide you're always only 20 mins from the city centre?I have spent a long long time in Adelaide (and country area's)and whilst in Adelaide it would be fair to say there are literally loads of suburbs that are way longer than 20 mins to the city away? The parents said one of their reasons for emigrating is to spend more time with their kids? Why can't they achieve this in the UK?The mind boggles, seriously!!!

Maybe that was because the visas didn't arrive? I have been very interested in the area around Mt Barker, but thought it was much further out of Adelaide than about 20 mins?
Having said all this, I still enjoy watching these programmes although I have learned now to take it all with a pinch of salt!!

I have to agree with all that has been said about how these types of programmes really don't help those who are actually looking to emigrate.
Nothing beats either a recce at the worst time in the year or obsessive internet research - preferrably both!
We trawled the internet for information on all regions in Aus, decided on Perth and visited in July ... we're now (we think) heading for Melbourne instead!
What always strikes me as quite unbelievable is that a lot of the people on the shows seem to have done very little or no research into the place they are being given the chance to spend a week in. They have no idea of areas which might suit them, the house prices in specific areas, or the salary they might expect to receive in there field of employment.
Its very annoying when you also dont know approx how much capital they are taking with them so you don't really know how much better off they will be in Aus regarding mortgage expenses once they buy their 'dream home' downunder. All the figure they give on the programmes seem very vague. None of the currency conversions seem to make sense, either!!
Love them or hate these prgrammes though, they feed my Aussie adiction nicely LOL

I think I remember reading on here that if you are outside the uk, you can go through proxy servers and trick the websites into thinking you are based in the uk so you can view the programmes on uk websites like the bbc. Haven't tried it but worth looking into.

I went on the site an understand how this would fool the site into thinking I was in the UK but how do I do it???

Just watched the second episode - it was obviously filmed very recently. The auction they showed where the house went for over $2 million was at the end of November in Ivanhoe (no I wasn't there!)
