IMO is there really any need for that comment? The guy is only 17,can you remember what it felt like at that age never mind how it would have felt to have emigrated at that age with your parents to a different country where you don't know anyone one.:curse: Maybe think before you post!!

Just wanted to add my bit and say well done to fitladj for making the effort to find other his own age through BE.
Those of us with kids his age know thats how they communicate = its their own shorthand that is used frequently when texting and using MSN etc.
I have graduated from university and I use txt language myself - it has it's uses.
Fairly new to BE and can't believe that people actually take the time and leave nasty responses - have they nothing better to do?
Anyway - good luck fitladj for plucking up the courage you will be fine given time.

I won't tell you how (VERY) old I am, but I've been here since 2004, and have used txt language since my daughter spent a year travelling here in Aus2000! Or how very impressed my 67yr old dad was that my daughter, his granddaughter, could communicate so quickly from "opposite' sides of the world!
Cmprsd evry wrd w cld so tht we cld gt as mch inf s pos in ech txt. I'm not ignorant of english language. Just wanted exchange as much info as possible with each message. Saves both GBP+$s.
Just because you can compress "english" doesn't mean that you are not capable of using "english" properly in the right place or context.
