There's supposedly a very simple system out there for heating a pool..... I've seen a few, but dont know anyone that has owned one so I'm not sure how effective it is.
Just a recirculating pump... I guess you can fix it to the filter pump somehow going through a whole heap of black plastic pipe.... about 10 to 12 ml diameter that is placed on a surface on a roof.... curled up in a circle... so there could be 50 metres or more of pipe curled up on a roof.
Anyone heard of them, or how effective they are ?
Looks like a cheap effective system to me.
Pool looks great... dont think I've room for one at my gaffe here in Melbourne, and heating would be a major problem down here as far as I'm concerned. We have a outdoor spa... havn't been in it for about 6 weeks.
For us a nice big 3 x 1 metre (5 x 1 would be better) swim spa would be ideal.... With a vergola over the top. I wouldn't be suprised if that came in at circa 40,000 grand though.

We have one installed, it's a pump that pumps water onto the roof like you say, but the pipes branch off into very small 1-2 mm pipes that are grouped in a flat shape to catch the sun. It also has a controller that only switched the pump on when it's worth it.
It adds maybe 3 to 4 weeks to the start and end of the swimming season and makes the water just that little bit warmer in spring/ summer.
It also has a tropical mode that cools the water over night in summer but I have never used that feature.
Cost a few grand to install. If you don't have one installed when you install the pool at least have the connections done so it's easy to install if you change your mind

Does anyone know about or have a solar heat pump which uses air temperature to run a fan thing to heat pools, just looking into the various ways of doing the heating and heard about these at the weekend.

I'd love to have a pool when we get to Oz but we'll probably use up all our budget on the house in those areas so may have to wait a few years for the pool.

Anyway we're definately interested in a pool and yours looks gorgeous, is there any chance you could post or even PM me all the costs broken down into sections as i'd probably get it dug-out myself through a contractor at work etc.
Thanks in advance and enjoy your pool!

No worries !!
I don't think they will allow you to dig out yourself as they have someone over see and it is all
stepped in were the pool has steps and stuff.
We got ours on winter special price
Total price $18,940.00 ($792 of which is for dig in this allowance they had enough time to
back fill and level 11 mtr x 10 mtr of yard they usally take around 6 truck loads of dirt away , they only took 2 with me the rest went to level )
the above price includes :- installation (subject to site survey and copy of plans for placement of pipes), brick coping PGH pavers ( these look really crap) , pump + cartridge filter + salt chlorinator, manual cleaning equipment, start up chems, standard council fees aswell as they deal with getting all the permission, master builders contract and 4 weeks temporay fence (which you can hire for longer at a charge.
Extras that also got thrown in due to being winter I know people may think they just say you would usally pay xxx and always give them away but my SIL had same pool and did get any extras as it was a the start of summer and they fit around 10 pools a week :scared:
Shimmer finish (makes water sparkle) $600
Baracuda Genie 2 $650 (they sale 2 this is the dearer 1)
Pool light (has 8 diffrent colours) $350
R/P clhlorinator $350
Total saving just under $2k
You could probaly get a further discount if you pushed it , but I was so please with the sales guy and all the info when I visited their showroom were they have alll the pool on display they were just as good , I feel with a pool it's nothow much you can get off but the service as you here so many horror storys ....When we buy our next house we will not buy somewhere with a pool as it is so easy to have done .
hope this helps
