Supercars and houso's have a culture. It may not be the culture you are after.

If it's out of your price range how could to be brimming with houso's?

Are "houso's" social housing? If so, then yes The Hill and all other older expensive burbs in Newcastle have them. It doesn't make the burb cheaper!

How are you settling in? Found work yet?

I'm moving out of Newcastle tomorrow, and looking forward to it.
So onto Adelaide, it feels like our last shot at the moment of finding somewhere we may enjoy. Options are certainly getting more and more slim now.
Driven up and down the east coast a few times and have little interest in trying anything else here on this side.
Which realistically leaves Adelaide, Canberra and Melbourne.

I liked living in Adelaide and would happily move there again. Sad? Maybe. Or maybe I can see the hidden gem.

It's just more povo - it's population growth is much, much lower than other capital cities for a reason

It's also the murder capital of Australia

There's a lot to be said for why rents and price of housing cost what it does in cities. With the exception of Perth which tends to be follow boom and bust conditions, Australian cities tend to be priced according to popularity. There's a lot to take away from this when choosing a place to live.
