Hi,
Yes, we are going to relocate permanently.
My email addr is [email protected]
Have you thought about who you will use to ship your personal effects.
There are - posts about 'a certain company'.
Best wishes
John

But mymain interest it to be near bars, restaurants so I can meet people and make a new circle of friends
St Kilda's great, likewise Fitzroy or Carlton would provide good nightlife, bars and restaurants and good access to Port Melbourne. Also Port Melbourne or South Melbourne you should find something like a 2 bed appt. There's plenty about for $300-500pw look for somewhere like Graham Street, Port Melbourne on real estate websites. Good luck you've made a good choice

If you're single and working in Port Melbourne, then the Docklands is probably ideal for you. It's right on the city's edge and close to Port Melbourne.
Check out this link.
If you don't mind living in a high-rise you can get a brand new one-bedroom apartment for around $300.
If you're after a two-bedroom here's a sample of what you can get for $410: link
If you go to this site and enter Suburb ==> docklands and State ==> VIC you can see where it is in relation to the city and Port Melbourne. Zoom out to level 5 for a better view.
