You only pay about £90 per week for a 3 bed house ?
In Australia, the Tenant does not pay council rates, Repairs or maintenance etc.

I am surprised so many Brits want to go to Australia.
I mean, there was a reason why the criminals were sent originally to Australia, it was because it is a punishment, and with extreme weather and isolation, not much has changed.

" not much has changed since criminals were sent to OZ" well first of all you don't anymore have to be worked to death as a convict slave being whipped and beaten by guards or speared by hostile Aboriginies. They didn't have comfortable houses with central heating and airconditioning for extreme weather, they didn't have modern hospitals, proper education, cars and modern trasport, a welfare system with aged and disabilty pensions, and unemployment benefits, a proper democracy where all were equal before the law. They didn't have the internet, phones and aeroplanes that makes OZ far less isolated from the UK.

We must live in a cheap part of the UK - 3 bed semis in my town range from £120k to £160k (for new build). That picture of the house for $340 per week is still twice the price of ours would be if we put it up for rent! Crazy eh...

Sounds like fair valued Northern property prices. Our old house in the UK is available for £125k, it's a 3 bed semi and has a double driveway, convervatory, large rear garden will lawn, flowerbeds etc... (not overlooked), patio, large childrens play area, and an 8"x8" shed. (currently tenanted for £525/mth - tenant pays council tax, but no maintenance, repairs etc...)

If that house were being rented now it would be more like a grand a week, like this place, in my manor - Iluka:

Holy crap, what a dump. Up until about 2 years ago I was paying $380 a week for a front row 4x2 with pool and ocean views on 2 aspects. Had to put up with a nightmare Italian landlord though.

I've never been sure. There is so much similarity between the parties and they appeal to a large section of society.. Lots of people voted for New Labour who were not traditional Labour voters - champagne socialists even! Here, you do get a lot of 'send them home' types but if some of these were true working class then they might have been Labour voters anyhow.
(I last voted for the Limp Dems in 1997. But they were strong in SW London. My old MP is now Deputy Chancellor).

Example: Who you will vote for?
BE: Australian Election 2007
Liberal - 53%
Labor - 26%
Slightly different result to the real thing!
