My first winter saw me in short sleeves during the afternoon..now it's a vest, a shirt, a jumper and a jacket!

That's nonsense - 5-6 degrees for most of the day!!! It is cold when I leave in the morning (7am) but by the time I nip out for a coffee at 10am and when I walk home around 4pm, I'm mostly OK in a shirt or light cardi. And I think I've used a brolly about twice so far this winter.

Well how many winters have you lived in Melbourne or are you just judging it on a couple of weekends? Yes, we have cold and grey days and of course it's not as warm as Sydney and the Gold Coast - but it's far from freezing and drab as you make it out to be. If it was, then I wouldn't be here

No-one should say that Melbourne doesn't have cold winters in comparison to many parts of Australia - but her/his description was silly

I think the hottest day I've known since being in Australia was actually in Melbourne.. it was well into the 40's and like an oven down near the river.
