Spot on...also...a couple of years back, winter here saw 15 to 16 degrees by 4.00 pm most days...what they don't tell you is the near frost that goes with it every night and the 15 degrees published as the max lasts for about 5 minutes.

My first winter saw me in short sleeves during the afternoon..now it's a vest, a shirt, a jumper and a jacket!

If you say so Crow.. Melboring was definitely much colder than Gold Coast and even Sydney, I guess global warming made the place warmer over the last couple of years : )

Well how many winters have you lived in Melbourne or are you just judging it on a couple of weekends? Yes, we have cold and grey days and of course it's not as warm as Sydney and the Gold Coast - but it's far from freezing and drab as you make it out to be. If it was, then I wouldn't be here

I lived in Melbourne for two years, after Brisbane / Gold Coast. For me moving to the other side of the world was for beaches, great weather, outdoors life style, not for the stuff you would find in Europe.

Oooohhh now you've done it. You can expect the Melbourne Mafia to descend on you from a great height, pointing out the error of your ways and that Melbourne really does get hot you know.

Actually, I think Melbourne does get hotter than QLD in summer - on the odd days

No-one should say that Melbourne doesn't have cold winters in comparison to many parts of Australia - but her/his description was silly

I think the hottest day I've known since being in Australia was actually in Melbourne.. it was well into the 40's and like an oven down near the river.
