Arhhh you must love your dog though!??? I feel sorry for him now, I hope he didn't see you write that you wish you hadn't got him!!!
I remember Willy! My mum used to own pugs so I was delighted that there was one on tele, even though I was pretty young then.

It's tough looking at a face as cute as Yoda's (she's on my avatar) and thinking that you'd rather she wasn't there. After the last discussion I had with bf about selling the dog I was a bit cross about it all, then I heard Yoda snoring (she always does when she sleeping) and I was reduced to mush.

If only he would grace this now dead and defunct forum, overun by taffy monkeys and let us know of his adventures back in blighty.

It's quite likely that these people who no longer post are happy with their lives and don't want to waste time posting on a forum such as this.

It is also likely that they are not happy, and are embarrassed that it's not as good as they built it up to be now they're here.

I tend to agree with Oweib and Janey. Those who dont post when they arrive are often the ones who shouted from the rooftops what a fantastic place OZ was going to be despite never having set foot out here. The happy ones do post, even if its just a couple of times.

Putting two and two together and coming up with about 25 ........

could it possibly be that PB went back to Blighty, found out it was the "arse end of the planet" and is now back in Perth living a happy but very low profile life ????

Interesting thread.

I didnt post for a while because I just didnt have time!! The computer was packed up in October and I didnt see it again till January! When we arrived I was too busy sorting out my life to post on here! Some things are just more important!
I think when I was back in the UK I posted some positive threads, but I was also realistic. Saying that, my life here in perth is just what I expected, and so far Im getting out of it exactly what I want. Yes it has its downfalls, but no place on earth is utopia. My life here far exceeds my life in Leicester and Im loving every bit of it. For me thats good enough.

But Im back now and I may post occasionally, but with 2 small kids and a full time job, finding the time isnt easy! I will do my best!!

Sorry about that, even forgotten how to post a reply on here.

I haven't been on here for 2 reasons.

Firstly, the last time I came on here and told you of the things going on in our life, a barrage of abuse from certain persons. So, I decided that I really can't be bothered to be in silly debates about nothing.

Secondly, for those that are interested. The Restaurant is open and we are doing very well and are busy most of the time. When we are off, we get on and enjoy life and make the most of it.

We still love it here.
Of course life is different here and there are things that I miss and things that get right up my nose, but why get wound up about it. They aren't going to change things just because I don't like it, so accept it, forget it and move on.

When and if I begin to hate it here, I will be honest and tell you so.

Janeyray - What sort of work have you been looking for?

The last thing that we wanted to do was go back into catering, but that was our experience and the years were against us to come any other way, so we have done something that we weren't that keen on doing. It is making us a living and will help us to get our Permanent Visa.

Good luck to everyone, coming, going, been and done it.
I will post occassionally to let you know whether I am at the Love or Hate stage. At the moment its Luuuuurrrrrvvvvv!!!!

Of course you could ask the question in reverse , of all the people that return to the uk , for what ever reason , there isn't many that ever post to say how great it is to be back and that they're having such a great time, compared to oz .You might get the odd post day after plane wheels hit the tar-mac but then thats it.

I think you so much have tobe realistic when arriving in oz to make ago of it ,its true some people just think its going tobe one long retirement holiday and others think they're going toget that £100.000 a yr job they left in london (get real)

I hope we can make ago of it, i think we can!
what gives me hope and a littile confidence is that we've been in the situation before and got through it. Left good jods and house in staffordshire and started from scratch in wales ,no job, no customer base , no family to lean on and in a small town middle of no where , with 3 young children
even had my boss come out to see us ,saying your mad leaving good jods to live out here , there's no way it'll work.

Any way we had our ups and down'n but always stayed strong and in the end it paid off.

One thing i have learn't and that is you must see things through think and thin , stay strong, probably biggest and most important facter especially for a man, is the love of a good woman
(amazing what you can achieve with that)

It's probably took us 2/3 yrs to get throught this process or what ever you want to call it.

and now we'll only expect one thing when we get to oz, and that is the same again.

all the best "i,m only a plumber what do i know!!!!

-who know's , it's in the lap of the Gods!

As for you lot still frequenting these pages - well, you need help of the sort I cannot give!!
..whether their 'new' lives are in Oz or back in UK ?

It seems to be a 'given' by some posters that if you don't hear from a person they must just be getting 'on with making a life' in Oz. But what evidence supports this? They may also have returned (or are planning to return) to the UK. We just don't know - or do we?
