Roo is more expensive than steak in shocko coles
However... A certain small town nearby with a large indigenous population its half the price at coles....
We armour up and head on over in a posse and stock up on roo.... Coz The1 and Kevin eat it so often....
We have a mate who has a mate who is a licensed roo shooter.... Been promised a freezer full.... Not holding my breath for it tho... You know the kind of mate I'm talking about?
I still refuse to try it....

kangaroo is good stuff if you can get past the stink of it raw!
low cholestrol so needs to be lightly cooked overcooking it makes it chewy! blueberry butter goes nicely with it on the barbie!

If kangaroo actually tasted good, we'd all be eating them instead of letting them run rampant across the countryside.

I think Kevin and The1 have got the right idea. Yummy and very healthy!

I have tried it and didnt think that much of it but im not a great lover of steak either. For me though it is more a case of not wanting to eat the coat of arms.
I do like liver though.

We have kangaroo steaks probably once a week, just love it. It does have a livery taste to it, but then we love liver. We recently stopped eating liver as my husband found he has high cholesterol and liver is a big no no.
My Recipe:
Chicken livers or Lambs fry
diced onion
garlic
diced bacon
tin of tomato
chilli flakes
mushroom slices
serve on mash potatoes

I'll try yours if you'll try mine
Inspired by this I bought some kangaroo mince and burgers in Woolies today (not had kangaroo since they started selling it in Tescos in the 1990s). Tomorrow we're having chilli con kangaroo, so will see how that goes.

Wouldn't they have meat inspectors checking it before selling it in the supermarket? I mean even our bison and other wild meats back in Canada get the once over before being sold to the public.
Now if you go and shoot a deer yourself and butcher it in the your garage, well, then that's the chance you take...

We dont like any of the kangaroo meat "products". Just the plain, unmarinated steaks grilled to medium done. Dont overcook. A little sage butter over the top.......

Liver is becoming more popular, you can even find it on the menu in restaurants these days (usually as a Special rather than on the main menu). Cooked properly it's a great meal, served with bacon, onions and a good gravy (Bisto for preference).
