bl**dy hell , I can just imagine new migrants to the country driving around looking at prices of lettuces in all supermarkets when they first arrive now, instead of doing normal things. like decking out their houses with essential furniture .lol
if anyone want to do this .. while they are at it take a "short"
drive to Nanango. (P.s I didn't check the lettuce price out there.. as I was staying in a hotel, knew I should have done something!lol) .. and look at the prices of Killenny compared to Brisbane .. I'm serious!!!! they are a lot cheaper, about $18 cheaper.for a slab, for some reason

Haven't looked at the lettuce price in the shops recently but will be pleased to see them back down to about $1.50, I have paid up to $4 recently. Noticed coles and woolies online are still quoting high prices.
On the Mayo front, I checked out SWV following a recommendation on here and it is an excellent substitute for Hellman's and the one I bought was the low fat one. Threw away two previous jars, including Heinz and maybe Kraft for not having the essential 'dollop' and taste of Hellman's.

Why bother calling the UK....I've just spent a happy weekend discussing the price of vegetables with my MIL here after all! We had lettuce for lunch one day, a very small amount of lettuce, about 10cents worth each I reckon. Beans are cheap this week mind, and you can get dirt cheap Vanilla Coke long past its sell-by date, up in the Kingaroy area......:scared:

I paid 99 cents for a Cos lettuce yesterday, they are usually $1.49 though.
Disagree with the bread comparisons Ceri, anyone who eats the 44p loaf of bread from Asda must have a cast iron gut as it is so dry. A decent loaf from Asda is almost a pound now ( Hovis, Kingsmill etc)
You can get 4 of the cheapo breads in woolies for $6, these are slightly better than the Asda cheapo ones.
How long can we keep this debate going????

The most rip-off price I have found here is the price of yogurts. My kids love them and I used to buy 16 for around 2.50 (pounds) in Asda here they are $5.50 for 8.
Why are they so much here?????
