woolworths lettuce $2.98 (sometimes$2.75) ... asda - is only $1.31 (54p)
.. the price of lettuce here in Brisbane in woolworths and Coles is double the price of Asda's online shop..lol

sliced white Bread in Woolworths ( tip top) $2.95 ..... Asda average price is 47p =$1.14.. bread is over double the amount here!
used this for converting http://www.x-rates.com/calculator.html
should scan my shopping bill one day, veggies are cheaper in the UK( and other food ) .. And I'm comparing like for like , one major supermarket in Aus against another in the UK

Your Woolworths and Coles has lettuce for $2.98 , my Coles had it for $1.50
Your bread is $2.95, mine is less than $1.00, but could pay $2 for what they say is better .
Your potatoes are $2.78, I pay about $1.25 kg

Forget about Walkers crisps and whether Aussie Cadbury's is worse than UK Carburys - I don't give a damn.
But not being able to get Hellmans Mayo, now that's a crisis!

I haven't bought a lettuce for two long days ( bank holiday monday)
Bilo was $2.75 on Monday just gone. Haven't been to woolworths since last week .. there it was around $2.89.
and don't get me started at prices of kilkenny.. do you know if you drive up toNanango .. it's only $50 something a slab, and yet in Brisbane I pay almost $70 a slab... ( they are imported from Ireland the cans).. now tell me why it is cheaper inland in the middle of nowhere.. when it should be more expensive. because of delivery costs getting it there. I tell you why.. because shops in Brisbane are ripping people off
cheers
P.s I'm comparing like for like... bread which I chose from Asda was a mid ranged price too.. there was cheaper bread there, but as I was buying decent bread in Aus, I thought I'd do the same in Asda vitual shopping
Potatoes the same - I'm comparing Woolworths with Asda, not a roadside barn to Asda , or vice versa... if I could see a virtual market in the Uk I would compare those prices to our veggie barns... like for like
Cheers

At My Woolworths today: Potatoes are $1.32 per kg
(and Yes, I could have got them cheaper at the vegetable shop in the same shopping centre)
Your woolworths was $2.78 ?
The ASDA brand Big loaf medium white loaf 800G is quoted at 47p
Woolworths Home brand bread is 95c.
However I Prefer the "Country" White which is much better, and costs $1.25. However I get that for 95c at the vegetable shop in the same shopping centre.
I am quoting "like for like" also, but you are assuming that I am not.
You should accept the fact that the Supermarkets do not all charge the same prices, even within each group.
Stop trying to say that all prices are high, just because they are where you live.
You stated "veggies are cheaper in the UK( and other food ) .. And I'm comparing like for like , one major supermarket in Aus against another in the UK"
I am comparing like for like also, but with very different prices.
Are you right or am I right ?
You are right in your area, and I am right in my area

But I will NOT say that all vegies are cheaper in OZ, in the same way that you HAVE SAID that all vegies are cheaper in UK. However I will say that I can buy these things cheaper here in my local area, than I was doing in my area of the UK.
But to say the whole country is one way or the other, would be giving a false impression to those that haven't been here and shopped around and seen for themselves, in the area that they end up in.

Now if you lot really wished to inform your (ex-)Compatriots of the price of tucker, you'd dig out the "basket of goods" so elaborately selected and priced with loving care by:

I could prepare statistics that'll prove almost anything you like !! (given time and preferably at the hourly rate that I used to get paid
) )I can even prove that 1+1 = 3

But then again, many of those on this board probably already know that equation

yes.. actually that price was in bi-lo ( this Monday gone), Woolworths is usually more expensive, around the 2.89 mark it was last week.
...
Where did I say "ALL"??? .. what I actually said was Vegies are cheaper in the uk ( and other food). did I say all vegies and all food??
I know damn well different areas charge different prices, but I do actually pop into shops Southside as well you know too ..as I tend to drive that way most mornings and back again
, and have lived south side too.when I went back to the uk . my average shop in the UK was half the price it is here. then again you get someone from ( and I am not referring to a a specific person) London saying the prices of the UK are expensive..
gawd you don't half get your knickers in a twist .
accept the fact that I pay nearly $3 for an iceberg lettuce in Woolworths, almost three dollars for a kilo of potatoes.. and just because you do not like someone else stating the prices in numerous other Woolworths who do charge this price in and around Brisbane.. that I am not actually having a go at you over a damn lettuce!!!!!!!!!!
sh*te.. I'm going to buy a lettuce so I can chuck at the nearest pom!

P>S try calling meg florida , I can't keep up with all these users who are multi personalities who post here.. where's my lettuce .. arghhhhh

Make sure you buy it from Coles then at $1.50, not Woolworths at $2.98

Ok, we will change the subject if you insist

, I don't like Coles.. I prefer woolworths.. had a bad experience in deadcliffe.. enough to put you off coles for life sifting through their "fresh" veggiescheers

P.s nothing against poms.. they are good for throwing a lettuce at...
