Re: Knowing what you know now !!
Like most people here would have bought more stuff over. We did bring beds, sofas, white goods but would have bought even more. It is expensive here, esp clothes.
Luckily we were avid readers of this website for about a yr before coming over so our eyes were open. Thanks to everyone who contributes here - you're all awesome!
Lot of people may come over not having a clue and so there would be more 'shocks' for them. They are a bit stupid though for not researching stuff
Ooh one thing we didn't know. We had private health cover in the UK. We cancelled on our last day in the UK. We were stopping in Sing/KL for 2 weeks. Then when we got here we were to get health cover here. Had travel cover in the interim. What we didn't know was loads of providers here let you continue your UK cover with them - basically transfer it over and you can get lots of benefits that way. However, as we had a gap of 2 weeks they would not let us do this. So anyone else coming over look into this before cancelling things from the UK side.

Boots Dental Pain Relief
Ingredients
Dihydrocodeine Tartrate 7.46mg
Paracetamol 500mg
http://admin.safescript.com/drugcgic...G?1047285961+0
Both are allowed in Australia, Rikodeine for example contains Dihydrocodeine Tartrate and Sorbitol.
Paracetamol is very common.
In the United Kingdom dihydrocodeine is a Class B drug; however, it is available over-the-counter in small amounts (less than 8 mg), when combined with paracetamol (see co-dydramol). Illegal possession of dihydrocodeine can result in up to 5 years in prison and/or an unlimited fine.
In Australia dihydrocodeine is available over the counter in the form of the cough syrup Rikodeine, containing 19 mg per 10ml in 100ml and 200ml bottles. It is also available in 10mg tablet form with paracetamol.
In Hong Kong, Dihydrocodeine is regulated under Schedule 1 of Hong Kong's Chapter 134 Dangerous Drugs Ordinance. It can only be used legally by health professionals and for university research purposes.

I would have hardened my resolve not to move to the suburbs - which fortunately we did not do - more by luck perhaps and a general feel of what the plan was.
