i am just going on what i have read here.

what else is there in WA? seriously.
There are (a lot of) towns. So that means jobs. Of course not so much for professionals(?) but enough for things like builders, brickies, plumbers, nurses...

I'm especially referring to the southwest and towns like Bunbury, Busselton, Manjimup, Albany.
And also the towns around Perth.
If people are going for space, less crime, less traffic etc I don't understand why practically everyone is heading for the cities.
Of course people with other types of jobs I understand. And people with friends or family there. And the young people (under 30?)
I guess that's nearly everyone then!

Of course, if you're in mining etc etc, WA is one of the places to be; Newman, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie, and all the smaller places(Greenbushes in the south has a tin mine I think.) Ok, looked it up, found this:
http://www.southwestlife.com.au/enterprise1102.htm

Of course timber is very big down there too, and tourism!
And the greenies who protest against all the woodchipping of the old forests (well, that was going on a while back when we lived there)

but since being back have realised that crime aint much better here.

Too right, Gypsey - I have just gotten the local (Cambridge) Neighborhood Watch newsletter. Scary reading - drug related crime, violence & burglary is frighteningly rife here. We'd be safer living in downtown LA .

East Anglia is getting to be quite a rough place IMO. Just think what it'll be like when we get the 90000 extra houses they want to build round here.... good time to leave, I think.

Guess you get crime anywhere in the world, but my philosophy is: if I'm gonna be mugged, I'd rather it happened somewhere with better weather

Anya.

I just got my local neighbourhood watch letter and there was a grand total of ten crimes last month, 6 of them being thefts from motor vehicles. There were no "violent"crimes (well apart from the arson at the school which hasn't been listed yet )
