Indeed. I went to many United games against Liverpool and while much of the rivalry involved was based around the fact that it was two of the major clubs in the country, there was definitely an element of inter-city rivalry that increased the tension between the teams... even extending to the players.

It's tribal rivalry at its most visible for most Western nations these days.

How bizzare! Actually, I tend to agree with you on most of these type of threads, along with capital punishment and so on..... I'm not actually disagreeing on this one either but racism can sometimes be very subtle.
