How cold is cold ??
How cold is Melbourne in the winter ??? People are often complaining about the temperatures in Victoria and i would like to get some opinions on how cold does it actually get ??? I heard that insulation is pratically non existant in houses so i imagine that its felt quite alot more than at home in the UK.
So how cold does it feel in Melbourne in june/july/august ??
I would love to hear peoples experiences,
Regards,Lee

Temperatures mean nothing here in the UK context.
In Oz, if it drops to 14 degrees it feels freezing. In the UK, well, in Newcastle at least, they'd be stripping off.
25 degrees here is quite pleasant, UK its a scorcher.
According to Mrs JTL its the type of humidity (dry heat versus wet heat ). I dunno, I just know I'm cold in the morning if the temperature isn't above 14.

When we lived in NSW, you never saw anyone wearing coats and you didn't see them in the shops either, other than Drizabone's for the equestrians.
However, on a visit to Melbourne one year, I was gobsmacked to see Myers had a whole floor selling only ladies coats. Does that tell you something?

We often see Igloos during Winter down here. The rain & wind soon wash them away though.
I think if you have a choice you should seriously look at QLD. All that sunshine all year round, how could cold wet Melbourne match that.
