The storm right in the City was HUGE, We were staying in the City, 19th floor of the Sebel, all dressed up so we could attend function. About 8pm it was the loudest crack of thunder we have ever heard! That was it within minutes the streets were just running under about 6 inches of water. You could not possibly even cross the road. We went out on the balcony and could barely stand up. Absolutely fantastic views of the lightening. It probably rained like that for a good 45 minutes and when we finally got out of the hotel the roads were just like little rivers. Had to walk barefooted through the streets, half way up to my knees in places fancy dress hitched up and shoes in the handbag
Oh and sorry jane and jim, welcome to Brisbane. It has been stinking hot, but now the storms have started at least you get some relief in the evenings. Summer is half over now by April it will really start to cool down so hang in there. Were back on the Sunshine Coast now and its about 33 but the storms already on its way. Cant wait I love them.

hi jane...
your move sounds great and me and my family are really hoping to move to new zealand, but we have only just started to look in to it, but have heard that is fairly difficult.
does it help if somebdy in the family has a job that perhap new zealand is in more need of, such as a social worker. my dad is fireman, but has a second job working with distresed children. my mum is currently studying to become a social worker, and me well im in my final year of school hoping to go to college.
we have just filled out an online immigratiom form to see if we are eligable to move, but while we are waiting for the reply, we are unsure on wat to do next.
my family and i would appreciate it if you could give us some help and advice on what you did before your move and how you managed to get from England to your new country.
thank you
kayleigh

Hi Jane and family....
Congratulations on your move, best of luck in setting up your new life there and keep us informed when you get time. Im off to fill out my skills test form and hope to be where you are in a years time (maybe less) with my husband and little boy.
Fraser Island is great a? We roughed it when we went (tents) but worse than that it was getting dark and the tide was coming in so we were running out of beach to drive on....ended up slinging the 4x4 in the middle of no where with only dingo for company and the bush for a loo......no fun at all! But its a lovely Island.
Wish you many more great adventures. Hugs Matilda x
