Here comes the sun - be careful

I honestly was convinced it’s the work of comedian. You know the very intelligent well thought out Tongue-in-cheek sketch along the lines of Leight Francis aka Avid Merrion or Sacha Baron Cohen aka Ali G but sadly not its main stream TV.

Sorry to hear this G. Hopefully the results will be benign. I'm very lax about covering and greasing up. I don't hang out in the sun but that means diddly squat. I do keep an eye on all moles, freckles etc though. Time for a visit to the skin clinic I think.

Went to clinic this morning.
Two tiny patches of skin from the centre of my face sent for examination......may need more skin cut out if any malignancy found
These patches were just dry and scaly patches of skin....not moles or anything obvious
I suggest that anything unusual or different needs checking out. The doctor I saw said that most people ignore such blemishes and end up needing much more serious and disfiguring surgery eventually.

My skin check is in the morning. I know I have a few that I would call blemishes that concern me. Apparently when the husband saw our GP (one of the specialists) the other week, he started getting very excited about a mole he saw on him and he wasn't even there for that! I hope that's a good sign that he'll be vigilant.

It is wise to get things checked out......I certainly never expected any of this

If things are caught early then treatment is pretty minor....I really do not want stitches on my face like I had on my hand

Mine was ok. The ones I thought were dodgy, were fine. Ones I hadn't even considered, he's put on 6 monthly watch with a big one on my neck needing my husband to have a look every 2 months for changes.......luckily no chopping yet.
He has treated me over the last 2 years and knows me quite well now. But of course, he's never seen my back or looked at my legs or arms properly before. He did say he didn't realise I was so freckly and said it was a good job I had them checked.

I got my results today....both patches were early stage SCC

Luckily he thinks he removed enough for them to be no longer a risk....follow up in 3 months to see if anything has changed.
The scary bit is that I had not even noticed one of them....it was found at the check up

Both the BCC I had cut off were white/pink, as is often the case in very fair people. I would never have thought these were dangerous because of the lack of colour. Be very aware if fair skinned that cancers may not be dark or even mole like, mine looked no more than a slightly raised bit of skin or a blemish.
Currently in Canada and USA, its been an absolute blessing to have bright sunny days with a UV of 2 or less, we are outside far more of the day than we ever could be in OZ'
Stay well and happy xmas all on BE.

Hope all goes well for you G.
The info about dry skin is a bit
, as my skin is VERY dry and scaly in general, but the strange thing is that in the summer, the condition of my skin improves dramatically. Will be interesting to see how it fairs during our 3 week visit in Feb.
I am not a sunbather at all and do slather the lotion on, but I fear damage may have been done when I was a child as sun lotion just wasn't around then, and I remember many a time where I was really badly sunburnt
Fair, redheaded and moley...not a good combination
