Goldcoast vs Sunshine Coast

Re: Goldcoast vs Sunshine Coast
For me its more like Marmite, love it or hate it. Having lived on the Gold Coast for a total of 5 years, (with a gap of 15 years in the middle), I love it, apart from Surfers Paradise, which isn't Blackpool, but its probably the closest you'll find to it in Australia.

we`ve lived at worongary for six years and love it i`ve only been to the sunshine coast for holidays mooloolaba, noosa etc so carnt really comment but from what ive seen in holiday mode it looks like an excellent place to live as well,
we were originally destined for northern brisbane at albany creek but got work and a school sorted quicker in the GC at the time so stayed on down here
i`m of the mind where you live is up to yourself and what facilities / needs of the family are of more importance than acceptance on an internet forum,
it never ceases to amaze me that we have so many "experts" that dont or haven't lived in the area but as quick as a flash there on here knocking a place which they obviously dont know, just my opinion
regards steve

Not mine I just grabbed it off Google, and yes MP it is Main Beach but looks like it was shot from SP, they are neighbouring suburbs (unless you count Narrow Neck).
Agree with you Steve, everyone seems to be an expert on the Gold Coast if they've been to Surfers for a few days, or even just heard about it on TV. Where you live is a different planet and yet not far from all the beach side suburbs. I've said it before, the Goldie is a big and varied place yet lots of people hear Gold Coast and think Surfers Paradise, personally I love the Broadwater and also the hinterland, and the fact I can be in either 15 mins after walking out of my front door.

Sorry, anal alert, going to be picky again but Mount Warning is not part of the GC.

I wondered who would be the first. In the local area...the border is an artificial line on the map, just a continuation of the same mountain range. I bet you could be across the border quicker than getting to surfers

Re: Goldcoast vs Sunshine Coast
I've not missed a day's surfing yet because of Jellies. We do get some bluebottles after really strong NE, but nothing like the 1/2 year out of the water that Cairns get due to the Irukandjis.
I prefer the Sunny Coast - it seems a bit more chilled, but still love the Goldie! The kids enjoy the theme/water parks and the drive down isn't that bad, just a 3 hours or so.
