Wink Re: Gettin Fed Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for all your replies, glad Im not the only one who's going batty over these visas

I decided today to go ahead and book our x-rays/medicals, that way, it will give me something different to stress over We've still not had the request, but feel I need to be doing something.

Look out for more stressed threads, they're likely to be from me about medicals/x-rays!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Jo

When did you send off your application to DIMIA and have you had the case number?

We sent our police checks in with the application as they take about 3-4 weeks to come back. Wre had our xrays and bloods yesterday and got the meds 27th may. Both are unrequested but you can pout the case number on before you send them in so they don't get lost.

Have your sold your house?

What is your timeline?

Our application went off on 2 March and was acknowledged on 9th March.

Spoke to our agent today and he gave me a reference number, whether thats the case number or what I dont know, may have to call him again just to double check. Dont want to hold things up further by putting wrong number down!

No not got house on the market yet, still finishing decorating, it seems never ending. Hopefully should be finished by end June, then we can get it on the market. If its finished before, a for sale sign will be up, asap!

Timeline:

16th September 04 - Applied TRA
20th December 04 - Approval received
21st January 05 - Applied to Victoria for State Nomation
February 05- State nomination approved
2nd March 05 - Visa application sent
9th March 05 - Confirmation received
12th March 05 - Credit card charged

Think that covers everything!!!!!!!!

I'm in the same boat, I also have to buy a new uniform for my 11 year old as she goes up to secondary school too, but I figured as my oldest (14) doesn't want to go at all, starting school in the new school year would be easier for her and hopefully she will make friends quicker. I'm just going to buy as little as possible to get her by for the 4 months she will be there.

I don't think renting should be too bad in the summer months as we are looking for long-term rent rather than holiday lets.

Only problem Ive been told with finding somewhere to rent in the Summer months, is that some second home owners, want the rental property for themselves particularly over Christmas. Especially if its by the coast where we're hoping to go. We were told this by a chap whose holiday home we rented last September. Also holiday lets would be booked up solid, months before, so wouldnt stand a chance there either.

He reckoned the best time to find somewhere to rent, for us, would be May, June, July, August as these are relatively slow months for rental properties. How much of this is true, I dont know.

We're heading to Torquay which is relatively small, so this does make a difference, as there isnt a huge amount available at the best of times

When we visited our friends last year nr Melbourne, she showed me her passport with the visa stamp thingy, to which I replied "is that it"?!!!! Dont know what I was expecting to see, but was very disappointed in its appearance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like you say, its only a piece of paper, but that piece of paper means so much to all who get it. Hopefully we will be one of the luck ones soon.
