And another minor clarification to a previous post.

If you have Foxtel CABLE you can get all the free-to-air channels (2, 7, 9, 10, SBS) via Foxtel. We have it and we get them all.

The restrictions on 7 and 10 only apply if you have Foxtel via satellite.

I don't watch eastenders usually but my SIL was recently with me from england and she insisted on watching it so I caught up a bit. A couple of weeks ago they just caught Chrissie out for killing Den, can't remember any of the rest of it.

Really interested in the slingbox Idea, I could put my existing sky plus box in the MILs and she could have a connection to a box of her own. We could have full access to the slingbox and vioala.
Has anyone done it? if so how much bandwidth per month will it use?
and is the connection good?

well we've got fox iq and not that impressed by it at all, 7, 9 and 10 weren't that great but i can't even watch them now as we can't get the aerial sorted out and i'm missing H&A, greys anatomy, cold case and CSI you can't get the basic channels through fox like you can with sky in the UK

Nerd Alert!

I read on one of the weird forums about getting Foxtel for free (I won't go into that cos its illegal), but the reason Foxtel has so few channels compared to SKY in the UK is that they can't fit more channels down the cable, or to put it in nerd terms, not enough bandwidth.

I thought that was weird too. How can they have so many channels in the UK and so few in Oz. Hmmm. Do they have crappier cables in Oz or something

I don't get detailed listings of those channels but I do receive them.

Because you receive it through a satellite dish as others have it through cable
