I think I'm a bizarre mixture. I used to be really extroverted when I was a kid, then got bullied at school and turned into a mouse frightened of my own shadow. Got over that at Uni, became more outgoing. Now I'd say it depends on the situation, but overall I'm one of life's observers - I'd rather sit and watch the extroverts and introverts without really being either

I'm the opposite to you Bundy... i was extremely withdrawn as a child (complicated reasons) and then hit my teens and decided that if i didnt burst out of my shell now, i'll have no life!...thng is, now i am getting old, i want to go back to my quiet life

I presume that someone who is a lot brighter than me would find something that IS interesting to say. The difference between me and a dim extrovert that is I don't fill the room with the arguments and ideas I dismiss!

A smart extrovert and a smart introvert may have the same great idea, but the smart extrovert will get the idea commisioned!
Brilliant - I have written so many responses....here we go again, I write...then check ...and check again and usually delete..not this one though just to show, it might have been good but...........

I get worried, my ideas are good but, my IQ is top 1% but that is a load of b*^&%()s when it comes to being 'normal'

most decent extroverts are the bloody good intros bluffing it?!

FIrst part of 'confidence' is 'con' and all that. It's true though, I bluffed my way out of being an introvert by pretending I was much more outgoing than I really was (whilst cowering on the inside).

Exactly right Bundy... there is not an extrovert alive who doesnt doubt themselves and worry just as much if not more than an introvert at times.

In some ways I am both - it is all relative.

I am introvert in that I don't need to be the centre of centre of attention - couldn't give a stuff - but I also find that my confidence makes me seem an extrovert when i couldn't give a stuff which way.

Me too. I think it's a better way to live. I actually hate being the centre of attention, but when I am, I can cope well with it and don't crumble into a heap. I'll quite happily stand up in front of 500 people (and do quite frequently) but I'm at a loss at a party where I don't know anyone

But does being extrovert mean you always want to be the centre of attention...i dont believe so..not in my case anyway...i'd happily sit by and let others take centre stage.. i think introverts often make the mistake of thinking extrovert are merely attention seekers

Good point. Maybe there's a distinction between extroverts and those who are simply self-assured

So you post controversial 'stuff' to wind people up to give yourself a high 'centre of attention' response?

I do worry out loud, yes. OMG - I must drive people nuts! I shall try to curb my worrying (she worries!)

Mr Bundy is an extrovert through and through but is a mass of seething insecurities inside. The way he deals with that is to be the life and soul of the party

ignore whatever this site is selling, but it has a good run down of the the different aspects of what supposedly make up a personality...
