Yes, and the only British Owned volume(?) car manufactures are Reliant (as in the Robin), and the bunch that do the black cabs.

Try Rover (British owned again) ,TVR , Morgan and 20 other Brit owned car companies, did you see the F1 this weekend more than half the teams are Brit owned and run also based in the UK.

More than a million cars have already been made here this year — up 13.9 per cent on the same period in 2001. Nearly 700,000 of them have been shipped abroad.

Topping the foreign sales league is Nissan with 142,000 cars exported. The little Micra, made in Sunderland, is the most popular.

Next is Toyota, with 94,000 cars, mainly Corollas, which are built at Burnaston, Derby.

There were 88,000 Oxford- built BMW Minis sold overseas and 83,000 Land Rovers, including 42,000 Freelanders made in Solihull.

Christopher Macgowan, of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, said: “This has been a year of record-breaking new car sales and booming car production.�

British workers have also pushed the UK to the top of Europe’s car output league.

The biggest Auto-motive engineering company in Australia is Tickfords owned by Prodrive yet another Brit company , the useless bastards I work for get support hardware from Lotus and Ricardo .
We will not even go into motor sport in which Britain leads the world.
Australia's total car production for a year equals what America turns out every 3 days , you dream on.

True but nobody wants to pay for it anymore, slack tarts. Anyway how's the going back to the UK this Australia place sucks plan going? My last day at work this Friday and I'm off to finish restoring my Willys MB before flying out end September.
