Default DVD's - that don't play !

Can anyone help me.

We brought our multi region DVD players to Oz and they've worked fine. I bought my daughter three DVD's for Christmas - all region 4 - yet only one works and the other two don't (they say 'wrong region').

Does anyone know why this is and if there's anything I can do other than buying an Oz DVD player and seeing if they work on that !

I imagine you have a very unhappy daughter there

I've kept this thread link in my favourites since 2004 awaiting your arrival

Hope it's of some use.

Thanks Bix - shouldn't you be partying somewhere ?!!

I've tried the code thing again but it's not changing anything, luckily the DVD's work on the other DVD players and the laptop so all is not lost

Wish I'd kept copies of threads like that, save me panicking over Bratz !

DVD disks and recordings move on in technologies and performance and because of the variety of manufacturers they will not all support each other in time. The older the DVD player the more likely it will be to not play disks. Also the brand can have an impact on this too. Usually it means you will need to replace your DVD player with a newer one.

Look up your manufacturer on the internet DVD sites and see if you can set the region manually
