Got a question regarding the playing of region 4 PAL dvds. I brought from England what I beleived was a multi region DVD player and purchased here in Sydney a few new DVDs. The first one we watched which was Region 4 PAL Lord of the Rings - the Return of the King.... no problems, worked fine.
Anyway tonight we decided to try Master & Commander - also bought here in Australia, region 4 PAL and it wont play. Tried Philadelphia - no luck. All of these DVDs are region 4 PAL and bought from the same shop but only one of them will play. Error flashes up to say 'disc cannot play in your region'
DVD player is Panasonic RV-32... can anyone help?

While being advertsied as a multi-region DVD player apparently it isn't zone free. If you go to this link:

there are some possible solutions to the problem.

I have been told that region can be changed by : No disc in tray; Press STOP : Press STOP; Press SET-UP: KEY IN 3, 8, 8, 8, 3 Then Region no. want dvd to play e.g O for zone free.

Maybe this thread is relevant:

Don't want to go off on techie tangent but it also seems that it is available on file-sharing networks out there but you'd need a local techie to sort you out a download and burn it onto a disc.
Panasonic web-site sounds a better bet

Also ... (I know it says RV31, but ...)

Also ... at the risk of boring you, this place seems to do upgrades in Sydney for $100 ...
