One of my favourite places in the whole world has to be north stradbroke... The bays and beaches there are amongst the best I've experienced in the world. Such a great diversity of flora and fauna there, on the island and in the surrounding waters. Plus it's no bare nature reserve like moreton island, and it isn't a tourism hub or a hayman island style resort for the rich and famous... there is just a pub and a couple of takeaways along with a few hundred houses.

And lucky you, it's right on your doorstep. People talk about the bayside area and how good it is to live there, and I'm sure that some of them don't even realise that they are spoilt with straddie being only 40mins away by ferry...
