Have to agree with the duopoly thing. Coles and Woolies are crap and most certainly rip off merchants.

More competition would definitely be welcomed.

About the Public Servants. Haven't you heard about the whole debarcle here in the UK? They are money grabbing wasters in ALL countries.

Fees for services perhaps - every permit, licence, registration or other costs money. Is the OP seriously suggesting that you would get a drivers licence issued for free in England?
Local councils of unpaid members on the other hand have been shown as open to influence, especially of the property developer type in western and southern Sydney.

It's not offensive to me. If the bloke really does have a blanket dislike for Welsh people then he's an idiot. Doesn't bother me. Doesn't offend me. Otherwise it's done in jest which is all good.
