Thank you so much everyone for the great advice much appreciated!!!
As far as the boyfriend goes, he's really not interested, which you know fair enough i guess, but he know's how much i want to go and he cant give up a year for me to come with me, god that sounds completly selfish but i would do it for him. So maybe i just need to get on with it and go, see what happens
I will get hold of that book, thanks for the tip, sure it will help!
So we decided it's either Melbourne or Goldcoast? I loved Melbourne when i was there but not much beach life...? So i guess goldcoast wins it...
Any futher ingormation on the goldcoast guys-would be fantastic!!!
Thanks again for your opinions...think i'm going to go for it!!!!

[F][F][F][F]Hello everyone, thank you so much for taking time out to read this and if yo answer my dilemma-thanks so much!!
I'm in a bit of a state at the moment really need advice and opinions please!
Here goes, I'm a 23yr old female, I have my own little business, when i say that i mean i work for myself as a freelance hairdresser, i've been doing this for 2 years now and it's great but i get sooo bored, i don't have that security of a guaranteed wage every month, and it's not an amazing wage when i do get it, but i love it and i'm sooo proud of what i've achieved.
I went to Australia on a holiday in 2007 and fell in love with the place, it's all i could talk about, it took me 2 years to get back there, i went with a friend back in january this year, half holiday half travelling for a month, had a blast but now i'm even more in love with Australia than before!
So I'm deciding do i give up my little business here my friends and family and boyfriend to live my dream or do i stick it out here and just....get on with it?
Also if i do decide to go which part would i got to???I want to go somewhere that i can party, have the beach life, lots of sun, be a hairdresser but above all rent somewhere that i can wake up every morning to a beautiful beach view.
Please help me out what do i do!?
Thanks for your time,
Lou xx

To start with there is no such thing as security in any job in this day and age secondly the secure hairdressing jobs pay crap money check out what they are offering about $500-600 a week.
Your mobile round is quite valuable as you well know you have had to work hard to build up your clientele it does not come overnight. It IS very difficult to build up mobile out here because of travelling.
Most fundemental of all is financial resources and i do not know your financial situation but i can tell you that you wont be catching the rays and partying much with a beachfront property unless you have shedloads of cash work. Try to work out the cost of living bearing in mind no family or help around you renting the smallest digs including food bills car etc. $600.00 a week wont go to far. Remember free advice including mine is worth what it cost. So best thing to do is, like you are doing, as much research as possible then keep your customers for the time being save up go out for an as long as you can reccie on your own and check it all out. As you well know once you have given up your clients for more than three months it is most likely they will find another mobile and it would be hard to build up again.
Good luck !

Hi Lou - have you looked into what type of visa you're going to apply for? Just that they're taking a very long time to process. Have a look at www.immi.gov.au for info on what visa you qualify for.
Edit: sorry didn't realise you'd already been pointed there ... but you really need to check it out first before looking for somewhere to live

Hey Lou Sorry to rain on your parade but a reality check maybe in order. I am a hairdresser unlike your other respondents.

Thanks for your honesty I really appreciate that, I was thinking everything seemed so nice and easy, but i do realise its not going to be like that in reality, the wage is very similar to hear though, we only get about £6.00ph it's rubbish, thats part of the reason i went mobile, but i wouldn't want to do mobile in australia, i'd like to be working in a salon again as ,mobile can be lonley at times...i'd like to get back working in a team and having freindships at work again.
Do you still enjoy being a hairdresser out there?Do you get much ongoing trainning?Oh and what is the annual paid holiday for this industry?
Is food expensive out there? The food here has shot right up over the last year.

I have been doing a bit of research on the net but to be honest my head is spinning, theres so much info out there and different peoples opinions and facts about wages and costs of flats etc argh!!! Its confusing! lol

But i do appreciate your honesty and any other info you got i would be greatful for.

Thanks!
