We've had to spend $8526 in the 14 months since we arrived on dentists. A couple of ceramic crowns are around $2700.

Jeez.... I've spent about $4,000 over 15 years here, and about £1,000 ($2,500) when I was in UK during 1996-2000.

I *have* decided to replace all my old mercury fillings and get some ceramic crowns done, so a lot of this expenditure is voluntary!

The dentist I've found is expensive but he's a teaching man, has all the latest equipment - stuff I've never seen in the UK or USA. He takes a 3D digital snap of the tooth and the computer displays the suggested crown on screen and, after tweaking, you can watch a CAD CAM milling machine carve the crown out: it's glued in within half an hour. It might be common now, but it's the first time I've come up against it.

Incidentally (pun intended) can you get a "limit" rebate on dental treatment as you do with medical treatment?
