You draw the time-zone in line with local wishes.
A number of US states and Canadian provinces are on split timezones. It doesn't cause real problems.
And there's already a precedent in Australia - Broken Hill in NSW is on the same time as Adelaide, not Sydney.
Cairns is not only a good deal further north than Brisbane, but is also a good deal further *west* so it gets the sun later in any case.

Ok Ive signed it too. I would love for it to be lighter longer. Thats the only thing that I would like to change.

(no daylight savings)
Milk cows one hour after sunrise (say 5am)
Milk delivered to dairy at 6am
Milk in bottles by 7am
Milk gets to supermarket when it opens at 8am
- Happy customers

Why should northern and western Queensland have to follow what the SE corner of the state does?

Actually I think that most cows are milked at exactly the same time of day, summer or winter and it has nothing to do with the time of sunrise. So the issue really is that they have to fit the early-morning routine into a one-hour shorter period of time for five/six months of the year.
But as you say, they manage it in the UK, so why not here?

When I mentioned to a Qlder that I was in the UK this year when the clocks changed, I was asked, in all seriousness, how we coped without any milk.......
I have also been told, equally seriously, that the extra sunlight will fade the furniture quicker, and the govt should pay for this

Do I really have to point out the advantages of everyone being on the same time zone?
Especially when a huge proportion of the population lives in this area (East coast). And need to communicate on everyday running of business.
Ok, it's an inconvenience for those living near the boarder who live in one state and work in another.
But the bigger picture is business districts are trading at different times. When the local market is so limited and needs to work together, unlike in your Europe. Which is not so vulnerable to changes like time zones.
Why through another obstacle in the way?

Are you suggesting all of Australia should be on one time zone?
The argument for Brisbane and SE Queensland to adopt daylight saving is a strong one. Then Brisbane and Sydney will have the same time in summer.
However it does not necessarily mean that the rest of Queensland should be forced to go along with it if it doesn't suit them.
