This is Mrs.Neal as he can't remember all the details!!!She contacted the courts in UK(don't know how she went about that)and had to prove he was the father of the children with birth certs etc and also(she said)had to provide bills/shopping receipts etc etc to show she needed the money.The Oz CSA then mailed us to say we had to pay and initially based it on his UK wages as she said she didn't know where we were so didn't know what he was earning here(even though the kids were writing to us and phoning us!!)but we proved he was only earning two thirds of his UK wages here so they reduced it accordingly.Its completely seperate from the UK CSA who incidentally told us we wouldn't have to pay here ,but the UK is in a reciprocating jurisdiction so yes we do have to pay.The children don't need to be in Oz.We pay directly to the Oz CSA by mail/cheque a fixed amount in dollars and the they transfer it to her,don't know how they work out the exchange rate.Any further questions feel free......

I was a bit worried that it would go to court in the UK & we'd have to come back for that which would be a nightmare. Also the transfer of the money sounds relatively painless, I wondered whether we'd have to talk to 2 CSAs & maintain a UK bank account ...glad that it doesn't work that way!!!
This way we know what we're getting in to.

Hi Mazza yes payments will still be made to you, as i have brought my son out to oz and his father lives in the uk and they deduct from my family assistance (child benefit) what is obliged to pay because when you arrive in oz and you go to centrelink (social) they will ask you all the details of the childs father and you will find that they find him instantly when the csa in the uk never can and calculate what he should pay..
