Have you checked to see if the UK Driver Instructor exams will be recognised in Australia ?

Question Re: Courses to make me more employable in Oz

Hi,

I was also wondering if the UK instructors license is valid in Oz as I know that HGV and class II licences aren't?

Yes, we got in touch with NRMA and just regular driver training - not heavy goods etc- is recognised. You have to do a test, much like the theory one when converting a British license to an Australian one - but more intensive

You will have some people worried by your last comment "the theory one when converting a British license to an Australian one".
Let's make it the "Old theory one", that we no longer need to do, so they don't worry too much

I read that the Driving Instructor one is 90 questions with a 95% ? pass mark required.

I like to worry people unnecessarily - a nice suprise when they rock up to the RTA!!!
Yes, a lot of questions and a high pass needed but they have all manner of CD roms/books/dvds and you just have to learn it totally parrot fashion apparantly! You get shown videos which show one or two hazards for you to detect - and things that are "potentially hazardous" but not the one they want!!
Are you interested again then? £3000 does seem alot, it can be as reduced as £1800 with a local driving school, and it is just so very flexible! After 13 years of carpentry - reliant on weather and the economy - my husband quite fancies sitting in a warm car and not getting filthy!!! Simple things

We are heading to the Bulli area - we were in Cronulla before but it's now the stomping ground of professional footie players!!!! A little out of our price range sadly
Hoping to be there by Feb 2010....
