You can't have it all I suppose.
Ahhh, I didn't know that.

I'm surprised by all WA answers regarding electricity, we have been in WA for since 99 and for us, Western Power, now Synergy, has always been billed every 2 months (60 days average), not monthly, our leccy bill is around $220 per 2 months with added $110 for gas (gas cooking & water, rest leccy, including reverse cycle aircon and the fact we use our dryer and leccy radiator heaps during winter)

That's cheap.

Don't know where i am going wrong, but my bills are always big. 5 of us in the house. No air-con, one lousy gas fire.

No one at home during days or weekends, so when not at home or when asleep we turn all possible power off from POWERPOINTS, not just turing of appliances. We use the dryer for hour or so every night, heater for couple of hours but apart from some cooking on electric frying pan, doing a load of washing, couple of hours of net surfing and a bit of TV we really don't use the leccy.
Found the biggest benefit turning the power of at the walls, shorter showers (for gas nill). We just simply don'y seem to use leccy much,at the momemt no time to use it at aal.

Just found out -well 6 months ago- we've been overcharged for a couple of years.

So if I've ever given anyone the impression our bills are expensive - and sometimes the winter ones can be -er they're not quite so bad.

We haven't paid a leccy bill for 6months as a result due to credits.

And they found the mistake and notified us!

For a family of 4, 2 babies with washing machine on all the time, we pay about 300 bucks a quarter, maybe 350 odd in summer with pool pump and a few weeks of AC, we have no gas - and in winter it might go to 550 bucks cos of all the electic fires we run in various bedrooms which the toddler turns on.

Yours Aye

Yes there have been a few others, We've compared notes on here before. One was for Plates for my 9 yo son, and all the follow up work and consulting fees, circa 7,000. Plus Braces for my 13yo Daughter circa 6,000.

I've spent about 2,200 Aud on my teeth, since December this year, luckily they are 100 pct fixed now, but I do/did have fairly major gum problems. My Wife is still undergoing treatment and is likely to cost more than me.

There is a major tax incentive of spending as much on medical as one can afford at once, as anything over 1500 Aud, per annum, incurs a 20 pct tax rebate.

Electric 400 bucks a quarter (may go up as just bought a tumble dryer) and that's running a spa constantly, 110 bucks a quarter for gas, 200 in winter, water rates 835 a year, rates 1200 a year, car insurance 435 a year. In WA.

School fees 3500 a year (Catholic Ed)

I'm guessing those with big electric bills in WA are running reverse cycle air conditioners?

It's the hydroponics lab in the shed, they eat electricity.

Is that partly because so much is subsidised by the local councils like bus fares?

There are two in our household. In Summer electricity is roughly $200 a quarter and $300 a quarter in winter. Thats Sydney.
