Re: Cosmetic Surgery
Everything Bella Donna said regarding breast reduction and breastfeeding is right. I have cared for loads of women who have had reductions and only one could not breastfeed - she'd had hers ages ago. You can also breastfeed with implants because they are not placed in the glandular tissue.
My advice would be if you are going to have a baby avoid getting implants until afterwards because you will probably need to replace them due to the changes in your breasts during pregnancy.
Midwife hat off - I had implants 3 years ago. One of the best things I ever did. Breastfed two babies and was left with empty sacks. Filled them up with silicone! Reckon the money I saved breastfeeding paid for it - ha ha. Very happy with the results (and so is husband). There are loads of cosmetic surgeons here and lots of women use them.

Re: Cosmetic Surgery
So, back to the original question. Does anyone know how to get a list of top class cosmetic surgeons in Australia? That is what has put me off contemplating it. I would need to know the guy (or girl) who is doing it was top notch.

I say if you are not happy then go for it, whatever it might be. However, you do need to find the right surgeon who specialises in the area you want done.
My sister had her boobs done about 3 years ago and has never looked back. She was a size 40 J cup and even that was too small. She had aureole (sp?) the size of saucers and her nipples touched her pubic bone! The surgeon couldn't make her any smaller than a D cup due to the amount he had to remove (they removed 16lb ) She now has pert boobs with small aureole and loves it. However, she did shop around and found a surgeon who specialises in breast surgery. Not a bad price either, all in £4,200 - a small price to pay for happiness!
I also have a friend who had a tummy tuck and again, has never looked back but like my sister she shopped around and found a surgeon who specialises in that area.

Bit of further thought and I've turned up this site http://www.bfar.org/index.shtml which looks really good. Maintained by La Leche League by the looks of it, but lots of useful information. Looks like you were right about supplementing for some mums - I guess the mums I worked with were lucky. But perhaps that's becoming more the norm than the exception.

Re: Cosmetic Surgery
I nurse patients that have tummy tucks on my ward. They ALWAYS come back feeling really nauseous (mind you it could be the anaesthetist's skills are lacking in preventing post op vomiting) they are always in a lot of pain and the pain relief we give them makes them feel sick. If you are prepared to go through all that for a flatter tummy then at least you know what to expect.
As for stomach stapling, they do gastric banding here and I would definately warn against having it done. We frequently have patients admitted to the ward cos their bands have slipped and they end up with nasogastric tubes (a tube that goes up your nose and down your throat into your stomach) and intravenous fluids and further surgery. Apparently one christmas there were 14 admissions of patients who had gorged themselves and caused problems because they had gastric bands! Further Gastric banding can damage your stomach resulting in you needing surgery.
As for gastric bypass, well all I can say is DON"T EVER EVER have that as you end up with malabsorption problems and allsorts! I see it all here!

Re: Cosmetic Surgery
Sorry folks couldnt get back on last night, thanks for the response.
Ok the upshot is everytime I get out the shower I'm tripping over me tits so need up hoisting up, no implants or anything just augmentation.
I went to see about having em done here but they recomend a couple of years follow up so I am having em done in Oz. Going to Tas but very easy to get to Melbourne or Sydney.
Done a search on the web but like someone else said I would prefer to know their reputation.
