Luke, you got a long title buddy! Heard of simplicity at all!

Expand your horizons, be respectful of others and don't generalize.

Ha, ha, ha - actually I posted this message as a test, to test how people would react to a New Yorker who wanted to just know a few things about Sydney etc that's all. Also, wanted to test people's attitude, generalizations, and basic way of thinking and responding to their pre-conceived impression of an out-of-control New Yorker, totally abnoxious American!

From what I gather, people (or groups of people) are all the same, doesn't matter NY, Sydney or Tokyo or whereever, the generaizations, jealousies, hatred, unacceptance, and being an ass are commonplace.

No I am not a New Yorker! Heard plenty of stories about Sydney in general, and seeing the pictures it looks truly spectacular. Looking to arrive next Monday and start working and living there for the next 3 months.

Good luck Applicant..

With your sense of humour i'd make sure you buy a crash helmet before you leave. A smack in the face is gonna get boring after the fist half dozen.

Podgypossum,

Now that was a really cool reply! But unfortunately, I have to finish this term paper I am working on and the powerpoint slides, so I guess I hopefully will be missed!

Have an awesome day! Good morning as well!

Hi,

Gotta move down to Oz for a short while from the US for business relocation reasons. Trying to a heads up on comparable cities to New York or LA.

Friends kinda said Sydney and Melbourne are bigger and interesting, but interested in gathering the real scoop from locals!

Don't know anybody down there, and not sure about finding enough to do on weekends and stuff.

Should I expect something smaller like Toronto, Vancouver, London (UK), I always get bored and extremely homesick after a while, but not in London.

What would be the comparabe NY bar scene - all the variety and the dynamics etc, not looking for a bunch of older folks hanging out at a pub place or something with boring conversation. A lot of Americans who already visited, liked it initially but tired of "no worries" and the mere isolation from the rest of the world.

If you find Toronto to be small and boring and you get homesick after a while, then I guess Sydney or Melbourne are definitely not the right places for you!
Good luck!

Never in my year of trolling has anyone been lynched for soo little!

I cannot believe the offence caused by a friendly enquiry. Until now I thought I was the most offensive person on here

Having been to the states and spent some considerable time in South Beach, Miami I'd have to say you won't be disappointed at all. Sydney is not unlike London but without the bad weather tbh.

I only read this thread as Sarah had replied and it got sent to my e-mail. Hope you have a great time in OZ mate

Mate

come to Australia and RELAX. You come across as a 'True Blue Yank', and a 'Fair Dinkum' Aussie will find you amusing at best. Gleaned not just your first post which wasn't, I think, particularly contentious, but your others..

Come to the Eastern States. You will find that Aussies work hard and play hard, but whilst as overt as an American, don't have that Yank naivety or butter 'wouldn't melt in my mouth' outlook..of course all generalisations..

I like your New Jersey joke, Megalania. It somehow rings true in many cases. However, I try to refrain from generalizations. Nice one...
