I've just read through loads of his posts and jandjuk is right. If the mild name calling that transpired got him banned the majority from this site would not last 2 minutes. :D

My interpretation of events over there is that a few posters took a dislike to Don and set upon him like wolves.

Why ?
Well he dared question the feasibility of living in NZ from a wages / cost of living viewpoint. He made it totally clear that he was speaking about his personal family situation but that point was conveniently ignored.

Maybe he dared voice what those people were thinking of their own situations but were afraid to admit.

No think he got a bit personall with the big cheese and started insulting him ... I like him (Don) but one thread was a real mind game and the big cheese responded reasonably and don did like wise but it was obvious he was f**king about

jandjuk Apr 23rd 2004 12:31 am

although it does appear there was some other stuff he said which was later deleted - so we'lll never really know exactly what he said.

Pissing of a mod is never a good idea - and perhaps that what he did.

Just felt a bit guilty about being rude about an essentially nice bunch of people so went and gave the site a bit of my support! (and I am sure it is appreciated :D )

LOADS of people coming to NP - they seem to have cropped up in the last few months.

Is this guy important or something?

Everyone should have their say.

We are all but drops in the ocean of life :D

The word PRAT came to my mind when I read some of his posts. Some very good.

Obviously needed better things to do with his time.

Hi guys, missed all this as the wife was keeping me busy yesterday going round the local version of the Ideal Home exhibition plus going on a puppy hunt yesterday (which revealed aspects of Cocker Spaniels I never knew existed and showed a side to puppy farms which is deeply negative!)

Bix, I think you are quite sharp as this seems to be the point. The 'owner' of the site Robert seems unable to accept that there is a serious economic downside to be considered when moving to NZ and didn't like me expressing it.

He has very selectively used quotes to try to justify 'the ban' but has not made a very good job and has misquoted me 3 times!!! (and out of context, too!). (I said "no, you idiot" to BEVS when she asked if I was having a go at her, rather the same way you might reply to your mum - I didn't call any posters idiots; I didn't use the exact form of words he quotes about "search engine" and went on to provide about 2000 words of very good information about UK child benefit rules; even I realised that "at least we've got PR!" sounded misplaced without the smiley which somehow went missing so I deleted it within a couple of hours (before Robert brought it up again).

The reason I got banned? Robert deleted the message he banned me for but it went somehow like this: <a) put 'ordinary messages on sticky if you want to, doesn't bother me; b) why bring up 'at least we've got PR' when I had deleted it about 10 hours earlier and there was supposed to be a smiley there anyway?> but I wasn't rude, offensive, swearing etc in the post or elsewhere. I guess Robert just wished he checked before ranting about a non-existant post.

Trying to justify myself as perfect? No, I'm as guilty as anyone of banter or cheekiness or stupidity but I don't make a song & dance about it when I see it in other posters from time to time! :)

The truth is, Robert didn't like me posting about my experiences or worries about NZ because they conflicted with his own views. And he seems hyper-sensitive about his website, incorrectly assuming I was criticising it or the management of the site.

Not quite true Don really....

I'd read everything you wrote and you were obviuosly looking for a bit of trouble, bored or something.....

Ive read lots of your imformatives and they have been helpful, but you do tend to 'get-bored' and go on a mission to cause trouble.....

The site is a 'quiet' one, but a lot friendlier, no clique, and so genrally helpful answers....

On here, if you don't 'fit' you don't get answers, and the total bitchiness is way out of line to genuinely needy people......

Why does someone wanna trawl loads of 'she gets on me tits' crap to find an answer.....

Anyway, they don't put up with spitefullness as a rule and that aint a bad thing......

Is this what you were accused of, or actually said ?

If my child ever said "no, you idiot", to me, she would be in BIG trouble.

Sven,

Your post is spot on. I have not been a member very long, and spent some time reading through lots of older threads and posts. This place is like a version of St Trinians, with some very nasty minded people mixed in, who jack off on inflicting hurt on other people just to ease their own troubled existence.

IMHO, theres a fair few who need to grow up.

By the way Donald. A member on the other site seems to think you are, and i quote " known to certain agencies in law enforcement either by conviction or by general interest. " Are you a terrorist or something?

deedee Apr 23rd 2004 7:17 pm

where would we be without a bit of banter.....its like tv,if you don't like what you read turn the ####ing thing off at the switch!Don,i feel there are good and bad things about NZ,but i sure don't have a problem discussing the really bad points. They are only opinions and people should understand that.

That's not completely true, ABCDiamond will find the answer to anything, no matter who you are!:D

Agree about the bitchiness, but there has been a lot less of that lately, and I think that will continue to be the case until we get some more personality clashes.

Yes, there are some cliques, but there are also other posters who will answer questions if they can (like me :) ). If I don't answer a question, its because I don't know the answer, or sometimes I get frustrated when the same questions are asked over and over again, whereas a quick use of the search function would throw up the answer instantly.:lecture:

Looks like the Kiwis are dishing it back

Quote from Thread re Don

"known to certain agencies in law enforcement either by conviction or by general interest."

I think they are a bit too fragile on the site.
